I don't have the box score, but it was a very special night honoring an outstanding senior class on Senior Night. Even the weather was great!

Not really true!! Both teams hit the ball but when you have to pitch against a team that hits the ball as well as South and Watauga, you shouldn’t have to also battle the Ump. I know it’s an old worn out story but I have seen good Umpiring over the last few weeks and there was no excuse for last night. I am still trying to calm down before posting much. Both teams can rip the cover off the ball. A pitcher no matter how good he is has no chance when he has to run it to the plat and put it on a tee for the batters. Believe me when I say I am not taking anything away from either team’s batting because there were some great hits but I believe that Penny and Sharpe just about had as many walks last night as either had the whole season last year. I’m pushing that a little but not by much. They averaged 7 to 8 pitches per batter and they were not missing!!! Tell me that does not take a toll. It was a mental war for the pitching last night not to just quit. I don’t see how either one of them made it to the third inning!! I know I am very bias but the strike zone was truly the face mask of the catcher, well sometimes. That was a ball if it was a curve ball but every curve ball was called a ball especially if the batter moved. It is what it is – The Ump decided this was going to be decided by who could make plays. Great win for Watauga!

I coached younger teams until they got old enough and big enough where I could not help them anymore. I knew that and went to the stands to enjoy the games. As an ump, do not try to umpire games if you can not see the ball anymore. It’s not right to the guys or yourself for the abuse you have to take. Come sit in the stands with me and I will buy you a hotdog and we can abuse the new Umps together.

I did hear that the umps were not the best last night. I just know that WHS is a great hitting team this year and anyone in the conference knows that if you want to win it you better beat South. So congrats. I am sure it will be a good game when they go to South and play

I'm sure the booking agent sent his "A" list umpires to that game. It is always a good game, I've seen that game at Watauga for at least the past 2 years in a row. Its alot of fun up there, best sound system in the area.

I've calmed down now. I am sure they did their best and the booking agent always feels they have their best at every game.

BDOC - I sure hope you are not the booking agent, if so, I apologize to you. But if that was our "A" list umpires for NW4A. We are in BIG TROUBLE. I think that is what upset fans and coaches from both teams, the fact that they could have sent better for such a huge game. BTW, no complaints about the guy in the field, just the plate....

    To Watauga fans:
Great atmosphere, great fan turnout, loved that they did Senoir night for Will and I was able to be there for that, and my gosh the field was immaculate!!

Don't worry I'm not the booking agent, but you can't send your best 2 guys to every big game. I'm sure there was more than one "big" game being played that night.

Like our booking agent always says, every game is a big game because every pitch means something to somebody.
