Score bottom of 5th 4-2 Alabama over North Carolina (Cherryville).
Pray for Homeplate Umpire Matt Sullivan, he was taken to the hospital by EMS for heat exhaustion in the top of the 5th.

Cherryville won today. So did Sumter (5-0 vs Toa Alta,Puerto Rico).

Cherryville will play Saturday 8/6 at 10am. Sumter plays right after. Then after a break, the next game is Saturday at 6pm.

(I heard it was so hot yesterday that the umpire fell out and they took the players off the field in the 3rd inning and made them hydrate. But the stands have "Big A--" fans and plenty of refreshments. Maybe someone at Duke Energy can take some "ice vests" to the umpires like they use inside the nuclear plant's turbine rooms).

    Schedule is flexible for sure

    Sumter plays at 5pm Saturday.
Cherryville not until Sunday at 8am.

Need to work on communications somewhat. Have the schedule on a whiteboard. Several papers had it wrong. Field looks fine though.

    Sumter beats Alabama 7-4

Tyler Smith LHP gets the win against Alabama 7-4 but the great performance was by Sumter pitcher number 33 a very small right-handed pitcher who shut down Alabama for the last three innings. he came in with one out and bases loaded. Little number 33 came in against the number four hitter...and struck him out.

now and he got the number five hitter to hit the ground ball to the short stop

it was like David Versus Goliath. what a phenomenal performance. I can't say enough about little number 33. his fastball topped out at 78 miles an hour but he had an effective cb and chgup.

He so small that the only person shorter than him is the coach he's so small that everyone on the team towers over him. he's probably so insignificant that he doesn't even have his number listed on the website for the team because this summer evidently he started out on a missionary trip so his numbers not even there on the website. But nobody will forget 33 tonight.

Little number 33 walked off the field to standing ovations in the seventh, and again in the eighth inning, and again finally with the save under his belt and the ninth.

Wow. What an awesome job by the player and the coach to trust in each other.

Cherryville and Georgia both eliminated for bench clearing brawl! Very unfortunate! Cherryville was leading 4-0 in the 3rd.
