    Bradenton team wins American Legion baseball state title

    The Kirby Stewart Post 24 baseball team won the American Legion state tournament Sunday at the Bob Gladwin Baseball Complex in Fort Pierce.

    Post 24, from Bradenton, went 4-0 in the tournament, winning the championship game 8-2 over Boynton Beach Post 164. Pitcher/first baseman Josh Clemen was named the tournament MVP.

    Boynton Beach was coming off a 12-inning, 8-7 win over DeLand Post 6 in the loser’s bracket final Saturday night, a game that didn’t end until almost 2 a.m. because of rain delays and extra innings. The team had to come back and play again for the championship eight hours later.

    Post 164 finished 3-2.

    Notice on the Sumter(host) team website....it shows them playing Rowan County...since they're hosting I'd say this is right..

    Thanks Boxman, because I couldn't find squat on the Tennessee team (thanks),,, also have team records on all but Bradenton, Fla.

    Also notice the Tennessee newspaper has their team playing Puerto Rico on first day (as in national website "above" brackets).



    Boxman is THE MAN once again.:rockon:

    I got a call back and Rowan does play Sumter in the nightcap of Day 1. The coach did understand the reason for the confusion but said the pairings with Rowan-Sumter are correct.

    What could have been...

    So if the NC finals had went the other way, then there could have been a possible Shelby vs Shelbyville match up at the regionals.
