    WP: Corbin Shive

Jon Crucitti knocks in the eventual game-winning run on a single scoring Trey Holmes to put Rowan ahead 1-0. Corbin Shive went the distance on the mound for Rowan (his best performance of the year IMO) earning the complete game shutout win. The young lefty, Jordan Montgomery, was outstanding for Sumter, but could get no run support. Just an outstanding contest between two historically rich Legion programs. Somebody was going to come out as the tough luck loser but Rowan battled tonight and found a way to prevail. Rowan will play Tuscaloosa (Ala) Friday night in the nightcap. Billy Veal will get the start for Post 342 as Rowan will be looking for another win.

    Rowan loses a heartbreaker

    Tuscaloosa (Ala) 8
    Rowan County 7

Rowan takes a 7-6 lead after trailing 6-4 going into the ninth inning on a Zach Smith three-run shot. Rowan gets the first two out in the bottom half of the ninth but three straight Tuscaloosa hits win it. Rowan left lots of baserunners on and committed three errors to really hamper their cause and many more mental errors that don't show up in the stat book. Rowan will have to battle back tomorrow in a do or die game against South Carolina state champ Irmo-Chapin. Forrest Buchanan should get the start for Rowan. Billy Veal started for Rowan and he didn't have his best stuff, having trouble locating his fastball, but he put in a decent start. Cody Laws relieved Veal and gave up a two-run homer to put Rowan in the hole at 5-4 in the eighth. Nick Smith took the loss.

Thanks BaseballBritt,,,, but yes if you go to the national website (link on post #20 at bottom of page 1 of this same thread), they have Gametrackers for any game in the country. You can catch all the SE Regional games and also check out other regionals as well.

But thanks, your comment may help some who haven't seen the post on page 1. Always feel free to provide more info for this board, thats what its for.

    Day 3 Finals...

Well they get to 3rd day, and the good hitting usually starts beating the 3rd-line pitching....

Sumter-12 over Bayamon,PR-2 (7 innings mercy rule),,,, Bayamon eliminated, Sumter moves on

Rowan County leading Irmo-Chapin,SC 15-0 in 6th inning, game still in progress. Barring a collapse, it appears Rowan lives to play another day tomorrow.

So much for my "3rd-line pitching" comment,,,, Rowan's Forrest Buchanan throws a 2-hit shutout on the SC state champs from Irmo-Chapin today. Rowan got their bats rolling and cruised 15-0 in a 7-inning mercy rule game. Irmo-Chapin is eliminated and Rowan moves on.

Congrats to Buchanan,,, great performance on a big stage.

REMINDER: Sunday's games may be changed by tournament director based on legion format; however, brackets on page 1 are updated the way I see it (if I'm betting). :glasses2: But tune in either late tonite (after Ala/Ga game or early tomorrow morning and we should know for sure. After 2 quick mercy rule games today, they actually have a break at the ballpark until 7pm.
