    Back on the winning side

    Rowan County 15
    Irmo-Chapin (SC) 0

    7 innings

WP: Forrest Buchanan (6 IP, 1 hit)

Rowan jumps on the SC state champs for five first inning runs and never really looked back behind the strong pitching of Salisbury High School grad and Belmont Abbey signee Forrest Buchanan. Buchanan had a perfect game through four innings pitched. Noah Holmes got Rowan going offensively with a three-run jack in the first inning. Rowan kept adding runs and Buchanan kept the IC bats' silenced.

Rowan will play Georgia Sunday. The time will be either 1 pm or 5 pm. Depends on what happens in tonights game between Conyers (GA) and Tuscaloosa (Ala). Preston Troutman could get the nod for Rowan Sunday. Zach Smith also had an excellent day at the plate finishing 4-for-5 with two doubles and two singles.

    Winner's bracket finals....

Conyers,Ga was leading Tuscaloosa,Ala 4-3 in top of 9th, but Tuscaloosa got runners on 1B and 2B with no outs, then after a failed attempt to bunt them over for 1 out, then a pinch hitter hits a 3-run HR (wow). Tuscaloosa coach appears to have made all the right moves with 3 pinch hitters during the inning, they add 1 more, and now lead 7-4 heading into bottom of 9th...

    Final score: Tuscaloosa,Ala over Conyers,Ga 7-4.

Have heard nothing official, so if anyone hears anything differently, please let me know,,, but I'm thinking because Tuscaloosa remains undefeated they will play tomorrow in the late game against Sumter,SC. And Rowan County will play the 1pm game against Conyers,Ga. Again, just my assumption. Will find out for sure later tonite or early tomorrow.

That is correct TJ. Rowan plays Conyers (GA) at 1 pm and Sumter plays Tuscaloosa (Ala) at 5 pm.

    Holy Crap!!!

Rowan's bats have gotten hot, and they're tearing up this 3rd/4th line pitching. After winning 15-0 yesterday, they're leading the state champions from Conyers,Ga 11-0 in 4th inning. Game obviously still in progress, so things could change....

Well for 2nd day in row, Rowan County gets super pitching by 3rd/4th starters. Today Nick Smith throws 6 innings of 3-hit shutout ball, and Rowan's bats continue to light it up, in beating the Georgia state champions from Conyers by a score of 13-0 in a mercy rule game.

Conyers,Ga is eliminated to finish 4th, and Rowan moves on to play the final day tomorrow (Monday). Their opponent will depend on the outcome of the last game today between Sumter/Tuscaloosa. If Sumter wins tonight and there are 3 teams remaining tomorrow with 1 loss apiece, Tuscaloosa automatically gets the bye to the final game by virtue of their going thru the winners' bracket without a loss, so in that case Rowan would face Sumter in the 1st game tomorrow. However, should Tuscaloosa beat Sumter tonight (which would elim Sumter), Rowan would then face Tuscaloosa tomorrow and have to beat them twice.

    WP: Nick Smith

Rowan's bats stay alive and well as they pound out plenty of hits in support of the strong pitching of Nick Smith and advance to the final day of play. Trey Holmes slugged a three-run homer to really get Rowan going taking the life out of Georgia. Rowan will play at 4 pm Monday afternoon against either Sumter or Tuscalossa.

Watching webcast Sumter VS Alabama. Sumter down 7-2 going to top of 8th. So far they have scored 6, big bases loaded double and then a 3 run bomb. The local announcers are going crazy.
