    Sun Valley 5, Porter Ridge 3
    Weddington 1, Marvin Ridge 0. 8 innings
    Parkwood 9, Anson 8


    Final standings:
    Marvin Ridge 14-1
    Weddington 11-4
    Sun Valley 8-7
    Porter Ridge 8-7
    Parkwood 3-12
    Anson 1-14

    Conference tourney begins Thursday.

    Weddington over SV in 9 innings.....Wow.

    SV cannot seem to catch a break. They have had many close games but cannot seem to just get over the hump for the win. SV had wins against Butler (10 innings) and Forrest Hills (10 innings), but also had 4 other regular season games that went into extra innings. That's tuff for the boys from SV. One bounce, one pitch, one small thing in each game and there season would have been completely different.

    Strategy Question

    Here's a scenarion I'd like some feedback on: Bottom of 7th, we're down by 2 runs. We have runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out. Coach decides to bunt, not a squeeze bunt, maybe it was supposed to be a safety squeeze but the kid bunted a line drive to 1st which froze the runner at third, 1st baseman short hops it steps on 1st, now it's 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. I guess my question is - WHY BUNT in that situation?

    Was told that coach was mad runner on 3rd didn't try to score. My opinion he would have been out if he did. Possibly a double play. Dumb call to begin with. One of many.

    MR2 Weddington 1

    Tightly played game between the two rivals. MR comes back in the bottom of the 7th with 2 runs to win the conference tourney. Wedd scored 1 in top of 1st on back to back doubles by calabretta/bostic, but was shut out the rest of the way by Wotell/Tietjen/Sagmoe. Landon Kay pitched very well for Weddington again and Smetek pitched well for Weddington.

    Game 5

    After Weddington's win over Catholic and Marvin Ridge's win over Asheboro, it's an all SCC final for the Midwest - Round 4 state game. Marvin Ridge is 3-1 against Weddington, but 2 of 3 MR wins including conference tourney championship were 7th inning comebacks and Weddington's 2-1 win was an 8 inning affair. Should be a great game at Marvin Ridge this coming Tuesday.
