Do you ever have anything good to say about anybody other than Freedom. I doubt they would win the 2A state. They haven't even won their own conference in several years and don't look to good for them this year

It's an opinion and thats what a forum is, but it's not like Draughn had to build a program---say like Patton is doing--they had Most of the Notable players from EB transfer in--as well as the Coach...so that was the point of the observation
Same for Draughn Swim Team...it's wiping everyone out with the nucleus that EB won at 4A with last year.

Hats of to Draughn and Patton athletes

Draughn Basketball players ( 2 Senior starters) and Swimming team transferred to the new school as they were expected to....Patton lost a lot of their athletes when Freedom kids were allowed to stay at Freedom when they were in Patton District...Hats off the coaches at Draughn and Patton who have had to start new programs...Freedom players who are in Patton district are having a great year in Basketball..your point is weak, dribbles, because any new program has to develop...Patton had a harder time, at first, because of Freedom players refusing to go to new school...the Draughn kids were ready to go to the new school in their district, and the result is more competitive teams from the get-go. From what I have seen at the 2A level, Draughn's girls have some tough competition in the playoffs, and I will wait and see what the Freedom girls do at their level, and remember, everything is relative....

Thanks for some of the nice comments. Draughn was lucky to have the coach and the girls go together for the school's first year.
Even though some think this conf. is weak, there are some quality teams in it. The Wildcats have some tough games left. After being on the road again tonight they will be back home on Tues. against a very strong East Lincoln team that has possibly the best player in the conf. in Linsdey Wright. Then the following Tues. they play a very good Lincolnton team that they only beat by 10 the first time. So even though Draughn is in control right now there are alot of games left to play.
As for the state playoffs, the Central Carolina Conf has some or the best teams in the state....It will be some fun games to watch.

    Tues. Feb. 3

    Draughn 75
    E. Lincoln 73

Great win for the Wildcats. This was a game of runs for both teams.
Good play from the entire team. Liz Ross hit 2 free throws with 1.0 on the clock for the win. (In a game that the wildcats missed 14 FT's).
Anyone that thinks this is a weak conf needs to see Lindsey Wright play. She is the real deal. Not trying to start anything with anyone but I would put her up against any post in the NW4A. She showed why she is a verbal to Wake.
With this win the Wildcats lock up at least a share of the conf title. Great job ladies.

    Record: 18-3 overall 14-0 Conf

    Draughn Wins Conf.

    Fri. Feb. 6

    Draughn 78
    S. Iredell 47

Draughn clinched the conf. championship with the win. This was another team victory for the Wildcats. The bench has really started to contribute, which will be big in the post season. Both Duckworth sisters are playing big in Tess Lechner's (out w/back) absence. Heather Copeland is starting to get her confidence and shoot the ball like we all knew she could. Draughn needs to get a win on Tues. night which is Senior night, to be undefeated in conf. play!

    Record: 19-3 overall 15-0 Conf
