Come on now everyone, you cant just post something and that be all, you got to keep this thread going. There are an abundance of players, coaches, matchups, etc. to be discussed. I am expecting this to run up to the winter time when I start the "Winter SW4A Reports"...so keep the replies coming. If you have a sub-topic, lets hear it and lets talk some baseball.

That's all I got for now.

The one guy I believe will have a break out year this year is AJ Mason. The kid is fast of foot and arm. He can go after it in the outfield and has a very good stick. AJ is very underrated as a pitcher and if given the chance, competing with all the quality of arms at Providence, can be fun to watch.....AJ is also a quality kid as well. Good luck to him this year!!!

He is a good one Braves. I have had the opportunity to be around him through On Deck and other places and he is very much a competitor. He works hard, and has a lot of talent. He will definitely be a big factor in how well Providence does this year. I wish him the best of luck with everything.

    Who else?..

There is another extremely talented player whom has had to play behind some pretty impressive upperclassmen. He will be a Senior this year and his leadership will help determine the fate of his team this year....that is Logan Smith. Logan is one of the best athletes in the Charlotte area and this year he will have the opportunity to be " The Man" at Myers Park!

    Yeppers!!!!

Smith and Mason are both GREAT kids and GREAT competitors! Quality families as well! They should both have breakout years... I suspect Logan may find himself putting some more time at another position? AJ should be PHS "ace" in the hole or ahem mound this spring GOOD LUCK to both of them!:D

I'm not so sure about AJ being the "ACE." No doubt hes a very talented pitcher, however, you've got Alex Martin over there. He already pitched in big game situations last year against East and Butler so hes got an experience edge, plus hes the most consistent pitcher providence has. If i was coaching at providence, i wouldnt declare and #1, they have 4 guys who can contribute in Martin, AJ (both lhp), Joey Cutler, and ryan jones (rhps). i set my rotation so that no team sees one guy twice, unless of course he dominates in the previous game against that opponent. There are a couple of sleepers over there as well in matt barker and matt foulk. both are righties, who would be quality bullpen guys, and even start some game here and there in a 3 or 4 game week, if it rains like last year. providence's big advantage will be depth in the senior pitching, 6 guys who can contribute. Myers Park had 3 main guys last year, and providence has 4-6, SCARY.

My prediction for a breakout year, is Thomas Hovis at Olympic. He beat south last year in the conference tourny, and is getting stronger. he got good run, and a great change-up. he swings the bat a little too. However, hes in the same boat buchanan, worrel, keith hicks, and krimminger are with their teams, will they score enough runs, and will their team make plays for them.

Is Dane Arnesen still at Providence. Dane was always an effective pitcher in AAU, but I never see his name mentioned.
