    What in the world is going on down in Concord? How long has it been since the Spiders have started 3-0 in baseball.

    Butler 8 Hickory Ridge 3

    Butler wins at home to go to 2-1 for the season in an 8-3 non-conference
    win over Hickory Ridge. Dalton Eisenbath overcame a 2-0 lead by Hickory Ridge to settle in pitching 5 complete innings allowing 3 earned runs. Butlers offense was highlighted by Tommy Hibbard's 2 run shot in the bottom of the first. Butler plated 3 in the first and 4 in the second to lead 7-2 early and was never threatened. Eisenbath found his location striking out 6 after walking 2 early. He was helped by two sparkling defensive gems, a diving DP snared by Ryan Hodge in the fourth and a diving snag on the firstbase foul line by Brandon McWhirter in the fifth. Butler begins conference play Friday at Myers Park.

    SPC question for anyone in the know, are all conference games JV/Varsity doubleheaders with the JV game starting at 4:30? Thanks.

    Hickory Ridge loses to Central Cabarrus 3 to 0 on a pitching gem by Garrett Freeze. Congrats Coach Knight.

    tj21 Not all conference games are jv varsity doubleheaders. When they aren't the games start at 4:30. Still a good idea to check school websites just to be sure though.

    NW 5 Concord 3

    NW wins over the Spiders this afternoon. NW jumped out to a 4-0 lead, Concord pulls to within one at 4-3 in the 5th but the Trojans add one more run and hang on for their first conference victory. NW plays host to Sun Valley tomorrow and will host the Spiders on Friday.

    Expecting a Koerner - May showdown, Kannapolis went with Zach Jones, who actually had a fine outing. Jones went 4 complete allowing 5 hits and 3 runs (1 ER), Sophmore "southpaw" Eldon Peters pitched well the final 2, allowing 1 run. Kannapolis commited 5 errors for the game.

    The biggest factor in the game was JMR pitcher Brody Koerner, who went the distance allowing 2 hits, 5 BB and struck out 13. The Wonders never had a runner advance past 2B on Koerner and he accounted for 17 of 21 outs, the kid can flat out pitch.:xyxthumbs:
