K63 got me thinking about some baseball history. Anyone remember Lacy Brumley who played football and baseball for Kannapolis back in the 70's I think? Always heard he was as good in baseball as he was in football. Think he was drafted but don't know if he played in NFL. Heard some stories of how far some of his home runs went at KTown.

And by the way K63 Don't be a stranger over here. This place could use a little more class every so often.

Lacy Brumley was drafted by the Denver Broncos, didn't play long due to injuries, wound up getting paid to play slowpitch softball (which was huge during those years).

As for baseball, I can remember Lacy specifically hitting 2 homeruns (both in Legion ball and both down at Webb Field in Concord). Keep in mind this was with a wooden bat, but the next time your down at Webb look at corner of the fences in dead centerfield, he hit one over that farthest spot,,, and then he also hit one which splashed in the pool up beyond the hill, behind the leftfield football stands.

Matter of fact, just saw Little Lace today, purty nice fella.

I have met "Little Lacy" before too. His dad and my dad used to run around together "back in the day." Do they still use Webb field for anything? Lots of history there. All the way back to the 1920's-the Outlaw baseball league and beyond. Concord Weavers, Kannapolis Towelers, Gastonia Spinners, Tommy Lasorda, near riots, fun times.

Concord Legion has played their games at Central Cabarrus HS in recent years, but I understand they were considering moving back to Webb Field for various reasons. As far as I know, Webb is primarily only being used by the Concord Boys' Club these days.

I would like to see Concord Legion go back to Webb, because of all the history down there, as you said.

Today's Southern Piedmont Conference ( SPC ) game between Cox Mill & JM Robinson has been rescheduled to tomorrow at 6:30 PM @ Robinson due to wet conditions.

paidmydues, its somewhat confusing because theres actually 2 "Southern Piedmont Conferences". This particular 3A conference is frequently referred to as the "Cabarrus County Conference" because its all in-county schools.

The SPC 2A League is in the Lincoln County area.

Hickory Ridge at Kannapolis still on for tonight around 6:30 depending on the finish of the JV game. Woulld be great if the Legion games were at Webb Field. Haven't been to a game there in a long time.

There is a very subtle difference in the naming of the two conferences. The 2A league is the "Southern Piedmont Conference." The 3A league is the "South Piedmont Conference" It does seem that the names could be differentiated more.
