    ... I realized today, I am spoiled.

The availabilty of quality baseball within a 10 minute drive of my house is ridiculous. Was fortunate enough to have a baseball lunch(that's like a working lunch, but you talk only baseball...lol) then to Clark LeClair to see ECU and St John's play. Was fortunate enough(?) to run into Southern1 at the ball park...he was nestled in with the overabundance of scouts that were in town. Anyway, fun ball game, great chat, GREAT scenery and a win for the Diamond Bucs.

Ease down the road a handful of stoplights and you'll find PCC getting after it. Throw in a couple of HS games a week and all of a sudden the grass isn't getting cut at the house. Throw in that extra HS game you have nothing at stake in, but is a great matchup, and oil changes start to back up. Into the summer with a seriously competitive Babe Ruth League and a Little League to boot... I just gotta say, if you are a fan of the red stitches, this place could spoil you too!

    When to cut grass?

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that struggles to get the grass cut during baseball season!

It's nice to find out that baseball people have family and life outside the sport. Some have daughters active in things like volleyball who are just as enthusiastic and dedicated as us diamond folks!!!

I like calling North Carolina Home

Unless you're stuck in a "holler" deep in the mountains (hey Kevin!), or buried in a swamp waaay down east, North Carolina is a FANtastic place to live if you're a fan of baseball.

The youth leagues, the youth travel ball tournaments, middle and high school ball, Legion (where it's still active) and Showcase Tournaments all going on within reasonable driving distance give the fan a chance to see many players that will be playing beyond high school age.

Luckily, we don't have too travel far to see the kids that do play beyond high school. With the number of colleges and universities, as well as the jucos and the growth of baseball teams at our community colleges, there are more games available then anyone could possibly want. Add to that the summer wood bat collegiate leagues, led by the CPL, and quality baseball is available through he summer.

Want more? To see the Big League stars of the future, again just a short drive for most of us, there is minor league ball of all levels. From the rookie league to the guys one step from the Bigs in triple A, there is some fun baseball to watch here in NC.

To top it off, we have the home of USA baseball right here in the middle of the state. From the youth National Teams to the Olympic level team, they will all call North Carolina home at some point.

Diesel... we're all lucky! I can't think of anywhere else I'd want to be when spring arrives and the pop of a mitt or the ping of a bat signal the arrival of another season of baseball!

Don't forget the trophies...there is more hardware in the Greenville area, you could start an ACE store.

    You guys are SPOILED!
