It was actually someone from Rowan who told me this...

 

My sources tell me that this will not happen. Word I get is that the kids from High Point are playing Palomino ball and AAU etc, and they are going to field a team for the State Tourney with the plan of being as competitive as possible.

This situation really stinks for everyone in Area III - High Point included. They have a fine facility to host the tournament and I'm glad they got it. They have had very competitive teams in the past - just not this year, but if you have the money, man power, facilities etc. you should host it if you can. Stinks for the second place team in the Area because whoever finishes second could go to the tourney and beat some people guaranteed. Just a bad deal all around really. I do kind of feel for the High Point folks though. They really aren't the bad guys in all of this. I'm sure they are pumped about hosting and wish they could put a team on the field capable of winning the thing.

 

The kids from High Point should not be playing Palomino or AAU, If so they are inelgible to play in the STATE Tournament.

 

Good point. I'm sure they know that. That may be some misinformation on my part.

 

Nobody is blaming High Point at all,,,,, I merely meant to ask if anyone had heard the same rumor that I heard the other night about them pulling out.

Btw, SMARTBASEBALL is 100% correct, if they are playing anything besides Legion ball after June 27, they are illegal. They had to turn in a playoff roster just like everyone else did, whether they had a playoff game or not,,,, you can't just put together a team and show up for the state tournament because you are hosting it.

Maybe because the HP players "may" be playing for other teams right now, is why or HOW this rumor got started in the first place that they were folding or pulling out...

 

My main point was that from what I heard, High Point will be competing in the State Tournament and to be truthful my info is third hand at least.

High Point did not even make the playoffs.They only won two games the entire season.The team asked if they could get out of playing in the state tournament.They asked to let the top two teams left in Area III to make the state tournament.The state commissioner who is from Area IV said no...that the High Point team must host and play.The state commissioner from Area IV wants the top team from his Area to play High Point in the first round of the state tournament so they can throw their 4th or 5th best pitcher and save their top pitching for later in the tournament.This happens every year and it is a black eye on the NC legion program.

If High Point is made to play in the state tournament,they should not get an Area IV team in the first game,but that is the way it gets set up each year by the state commisioner from Area IV.:banginghe

Wait and see who gets High Point the first game.It won't be Area I or Area II you can bet on that.Area IV will get that honor....another gift from the state commisioner,and when they do that's when you should yell...BULL.
