does sr. legion have dual participation like jr. legion does? meaning could you play showcase ball on the weekends and legion ball during the week?

That is left up to the individual teams. Most Legion Senior Teams have found out that allowing players to play weekend travel ball while playing Senior Legion baseball does not work out. It is not fair to the rest of the team to allow players to play on other teams during the Legion season. Again it is up to the individual team but playing travel ball players during the Legion Season usually does not work.

In general, the player who plays for other teams is not a team player. In our experience travel ball players playing part time on a team are not devoted to the team and cause dissension with the players who are devoted.

The answer to your question is yes. As the other poster said it is up to each team to decide whether they will allow these players to play. You must file the dual participation form.

    Up until...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure that dual participation is allowed only until the playoff roster is filed. After that dual participation would make a player ineligible.

Once the first day of the playoffs begin, players can only be on one roster- which can put your entire team, not just one player in jeopardy.

As for reg.season, dual participation is ok and some legion teams even rearrange schedules if there is something pretty special (ie state games) a certain weekend where they have players involved.

However, as others have said, starting first day of playoffs,,, any dual participation from this point on whatsoever and your team is now breaking the rules.

The good news is, half of legion teams across the state are eliminated the first week of playoffs, another half of those remaining eliminated next week, and so on and so on. Therefore, players who wish to do both (legion and showcase) can start playing showcase as soon as their legion team is eliminated, and most will have from early July thru rest of fall to showcase.

wadedog, to be sure, I'd refer you to the national website on the latest rules about filling out dual participation forms. I'd also make your legion coach well aware of your situation and ask him to check with area commissioner that everything you've done is ok. Never want to get bit and make the whole team forfeit season at 11th hour.
