Stanly CC

It looks like Stanly Community College is cutting sports after this spring. Too bad, it looked like in baseball they were definetly heading in the right direction...........

 

Keep in mind that this is a very biased opinion and coming from one who calls it like he sees it. You are correct, as of June 30th SCC will no longer field an athletic program. This is a very unfortunate situation for all involved, but more so for the kids who came back from Christmas break to get this news. A new president came in and decided to review all programs. This started back in November. Coaches were told to freeze all recruiting the second week of December. At that point, it appears the decision had been made. Instead of telling the coaches and athletes at that point, they waited until they returned to campus after break to give them the news. Guess they needed that tuition for another semester instead of giving the student athletes a chance to transfer. They say it's all about money, but I can't imagine a school of this size not needing the tuition from the 100+ student athletes. Do they think they can survive without the community support they were receiving because of athletics? These are questions that remain to be seen. The only certain in this situation is that they were not concerned with the futures of the student athletes. I could be wrong, but this appears to be more about new administration trying to make a splash than anything. Well, now they've made their bed. Hope they enjoy sleeping in it!
