Scoreless until the seventh inning when Richlands broke things wide open. They had the bases loaded twice.

West Caldwell 8, West Henderson 2

For WC: Bowman 3/4 with a double, Collins had a HR, Benfield had a HR, and Watson had a 2B.

For WH: Jerry Brinkley was 2/4 with a HR and a 2B, Mike Facchinei and Matthew Pruitt both had doubles.

West Caldwell improves to 23-3 and moves on to meet East Rutherford. West Henderson ends their season at 20-6.

West Caldwell is a very good hitting team top to bottom in their order.

    Cavaliers Advance

The East Rutherford Cavaliers beat the North Henderson Knights 8-7 in a great 2nd round game at East last night. UNC-bound Chad Flack of ER and Seth Williams of NH both led their teams when it counted. With ER leading 5-3 in the 4th, Williams towering Grand Slam HR put the Knights up 7-5. Flack answered in the bottom of the 5th for ER with a long 2 run shot on the first strike thrown to him in three At-Bats to tie the score at 7. With Williams and Flack both pitching in relief, the score stayed tied until the bottom of the 7th, when Steven Harris singled to left. Pinch Runner Bubba Kimbrell then scored when the NH SS threw away a ground ball to 2B, a rough ending to a well played game on both sides. The Cavs, who won a school record 27th game, (27-2), advance to play West Caldwell Tuesday at WC in a #1 vs #2 matchup.

Leading Hitters : Chad Flack 1-2, HR (15), 2 RBI

East Rutherford 10 West Caldwell 5

The Cavaliers advanced to the Eastern Finals by defeating the West Caldwell Warriors 10-5. The Cavs banged out 5 HR's. Garland Jones led off the game with a solo shot. Steven Harris followed 2 batters later with his 12th of the year. Chad Flack hit one in the 3rd, his 16th and career 40th, tying Paul Brannon of Kings Mountain for the all-time North Carolina Prep Record. West Caldwell got going and took a 5-4 lead before Flack hit another one, tying the game and giving him the top spot alone for NC prep hitters. The big blow came in the 6th, with the Cavs clinging to a 6-5 lead and the bases loaded after an intentional walk to Flack, UNCC bound Harris hit a Grand Slam to put the lead at 10-5 and all but wrap it up. Flack came in to pitch in the 3rd and pitched brilliantly for the last 5 innings to get the win. Congratulations Cavs and good luck on trying to win that 3rd straight championship.

    East Rutherford vs West Caldwell

    Rocket,

Thanks for a great post! Great game! Both teams played well. Good Luck to West Caldwell's seniors. You had a great run and played with class.

Chad Flack actually hit his 41 and 42 career homeruns this evening, 17 total on the season. Paul Brannon's record was 41.
