I believe Independence will be throwing Zack Farry...he's undeniably their ace.

...and I don't want to get into mudslinging on this forum...but I will say this. I don't blame the NM coach to get his players out of there as quick as possible. It was a very emotional, heated moment that to lineup would have flamed the fires...it was best to leave before it got any more out of control

North Forsyth came out to play... Addison Johnson came in in relief in the 1st after Person scored 2 runs, pitched a great game keeping the Rockets off balance with his fastball and a good breaking ball. He allowed 0 hits with 7 K's 1 BB and 2 HP. You could tell that N. Forsyth was much more plyoff experience than the Rockets, whose last playoff berth was in 2002. Hat's off to the Vikings for a well played game.

Blake Bowes pitched well for the Rockets, allowing 3 Earned runs in 5 IP.

    ATHENS DRIVE - 6
    GREEN HOPE - 4

WP - Justin Lilly, complete game
    LP - Kory Judd

Hayes Hinson (Athens Drive's SS... signed with Spart-Methodist) had a 2run HR late in the game. Good game all the way to the last out. GH had bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs, game ended with a sharp line drive to the center fielder. Alan DeRatt (UNCA) started for GH before Judd (UNCG) came in to relieve. Several errors in the game it seemed like.

    Good Luck Athens :applause:

My bad on the pitching match-ups -- Farry vs. Worrell will be a good one. On the Prov-North Meck flare-up, I shouldn't have commented since I wasn't there. I just wish we all would remember the impressions we adults make on these kids. Wouldn't it have been great if the coach had pulled his guys aside and said -- "They behaved poorly, but they lost a close game and sometimes people behave poorly in the heat of the moment. Now it is time for us to be be bigger than that. Now go shake their hands." Maybe it was too heated for that to work, but the kids would have remembered it for a long, long time.
