Special congrats to MVP Ethan Marsh. Kid had a great second game both offensively and defensively. A couple singles early. Then with Randolph up 6-4 in the 5th, he soared high over the rightcenter fence to steal a home run from C'ville's Jake Watts. 2 innings later, with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs, he made a diving catch in short center field to steal an RBI single from Watts. In a fitting end, he hit a 9th inning home run and caught the last 2 outs of the tournament on routine balls in center field.

Those Randolph college boys need to be rethinking missing the SE regionals. It can be done where they are able to play. The SE regionals are Aug.14-18 and most colleges in this area don't start class until Aug.21,,, also students are allowed to miss so many classes at the beginning of the school year before they are even counted absent. Not to mention the fact that if any of those boys play baseball in college, I'm sure their college coach will (and can) work something out with the school for them to come in later if necessary.

We haven't been fortunate enough to have this problem, but been close (twice). Arrangements can be made the same way as if someone is out of town with family, or has an emergency,,, all they need to do is get on the phone to their respective schools.

Hopefully they will all be in Shelby this week, they've worked too hard to let it all go now.

Every school that I'm aware of allows, in fact, encourages their players to continue. It has never been a problem.

exactly, no college coach is going to tell his player to quit his legion team and report to school, not if they have this opportunity.

now nonplayers (regular students) will have to just make some phone calls. as stated earlier, we've made phone calls and it can be worked out as long as they are in school by a certain date.

Yeah I just talked to a couple of the Randolph players and it sounds like they're playing and everything will be fine...

They have a great shot with everybody playing to make some noise at regionals
