The application letters for consideration to be a State Games coach have been mailed and should be in the High School coaches or Athletic Directors hands for each High School in the State. All head coaches are eligible to apply. If for some reason you have not received an application and wish to be considered, please contact [email protected] or [email protected] and these forms will be mailed directly to you. The dates for the Softball State Games are Monday thru Thursday, June 15th-18th in Charlotte.

    Not a good move....

    ..
.......so next year when Pop brings the games to UNCW are you gonna be there?

Sorry Pops, UNCC is a great place as is Charlotte, and so is UNCW and Wilmington. But I have to wonder how many folks will be interested in traveling across the state. The economy sucks, the state games have been a sore spot for some, not me BTW, I loved them!!!!, but cmon Pop, now you're gonna ask kids in the east to travel 300 miles to play in front of their parents?

Whats up with not having a central venue?

    Disappointed

Disappointing that they gave in to the travel ball schedule and changed the format to a weekday event. Due to this even less parents and family can attend and Charlotte is not exactly a central location. But I'm sure the almighty dollar had influence and that's what makes the world go round.

    State Games

The venue for the State Games is a process of which I nor the NCSCA has any control. Cities across the state market themselves for a chance to host the State Games. Greensboro had the Games for the last two years. Charlotte has the games for 2009 and 2010. I believe Raleigh had the Games in 2005 and 2006. Hosting the Games will be up for grabs for the 2011 and 2012. It is up to the cities to market and then the process of choosing a site is up to the North Carolina Amateur Sports. We have absolutely no problem at all coming East. Our annual Winter clinic will be held at North Johnston High School on January 30-31.

First of all this is my first post ever! Sometimes I enjoy reading the banter back and forth on posts, but the last few days have driven me crazy. The discussion about hs and tb got ugly and now people are blaming someone for where the state games are being played. Pop has done more in a very short time for softball in this state than anyone. How about saying thank you instead of making a mountain out of a mole hill. How about doing some investigation before blistering someone? Become a part of the solution not a part of the problem. If you want change get involved! Just a thought!

We can solve the location thing very easily by having the games televised. Who among us has that influence?

I love the State Games format. While not everyone is ever going to be pleased by player selection, etc., the games so far have been very exciting. The teams have been pretty evenly matched. The facilities have been great. The atmosphere (other than the rain) has been at a very high level.

I can't wait to come away with my heroes for next year! Will it be Jordan Scarborough and Caitlin Sandy again? We'll see!!

    Can't wait!! Thanks Pop!!
