I don't think these teams are made fairly. I noticed the region 7 team consisted of at least 6 or 7 sophomores. At least one of these was a coach's son. I thought this team was mostly for rising seniors with no more than 2 sophomores on each region team. These sophomores took the roster spot of some good rising senior baseball players that sure could have used the exposure. It was complete politics. The rising seniors should have at least gotten more playing time than all of these sophomores, but I don't think that happened either. This system needs revamping to protect the integrity of the program. Maybe next year they will allow half of the team to be sophomores. It has gotten out of hand when coaches are allowed to put their players on these teams. Some of the kids on this team didn't even come to try-outs like everyone else. They got their own "special" tryout because they didn't show up for the scheduled ones. What does this teach these kids? That they are above the integrity of the game. There is an East/West tournament for graduated seniors. Then there is a region tournament for supposedly rising seniors from around the state with no more than 2 sophomores on each team. If they continue to allow an unlimited amount of sophomores on these teams, then there is very little room for rising seniors. They skipped a lot of quality talent to put these younger kids on the team. I've seen many of these younger kids play and their talent level isn't there yet. They should have to wait another year to tryout again. Some kids on this team even got to pitch in this tournament and barely even pitched for their high school team. They sure weren't selected based on their pitching stats from high school. Just a big waste of time if it continues in this way.

The younger kids are rising Juniors, not sophmores. I agree that there should be a tight limit on the rising Juniors...maybe 3 a team. My son made Region 5's team 2 years. Looking back, I'm glad it happened...but I don't think that is fair. The college scouts want to see the older kids.

Agreed. Very curious selection process indeed. Must be based on a combination of politics/reputation/performance. However it was done, several deserving kids in region 7 were very disappointed. For the future rising seniors, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to them.:twocents:
