I only have info on the even teams bracket. Here are their current standings.

    Region 2....0-2
    Region 4....0-2
    Region 6....2-0
    Region 8....2-0

Tomorrows games will feature the winless vs the winless and the undefeated vs the undefeated. Region 6 will square off against Region 8 at 10:00 AM at Wake Forest and Region 2 will face region4 at 1:00 PM at Wake Forest.

Although I don't have the standings for the odd teams bracket, Region 1 will face Region 3 at 3:00 PM at Ernie Shore Field and Region 5 will face Region 7 at 7:00 pm at Ernie Shore Field

Since I'm more familiar with the Region 6 team i'll give my feelings on what i've seen so far.

I think the biggest thing about this team is that they can flat hit. I mean everybody seems to have contributed with the bat in some way. There has been a lot of talk about their BP session during their work out on Wednesday. I'm don't know the exact numbers but it seemed like at least half of the team hit at least 1 ball out of Ernie Shore Field, some had more than 1. Region 6 has out scored their opponents 20-11 in 2 games. In todays game with Region 2 they scored 12 runs on 15 hits. I believe that qualifies as pretty good hitting.

I had heard that pitching might be a concern, but to this point it has been more than adequate. Sure, they've had a couple of ruff spots but over the course of the 15 innings they've played but so far pitching has been very good. Logan Smith took the win on Thursday and Ben Buchannon got the win today. Wes McCall, Michael Raymond, Mitchell Harris, and Kyle Shelton have all taken their turns well on the bump. I may have missed somebody,if so, I apologize. Coach Greeson has substituted freely and it has been difficult at times to keep track.

In the field they have made most of the plays. They've committed 3 errors but none of them have hurt much in the over scheme of the games. The thing that has impressed me the most in the field has been communication between the fielders. There have been several occassions when communication was assential to making the play and so far the right plays have been made. A lot of times when you bring a group of players together like this it takes a while for them to get accustomed to playing with each other but not so here. They look to me like they've been playing together for a while.

Most important of all is the fact that they look like they're having fun out there.

So, rest assured that these guys are representing Region 6 well.

Region 6 defeated Region 8 this morning 6-3. Region 6 was a little sloppy in the field committing 6 errors. Region 8 committed 1. Region 6 had 8 hits. Harris, McCall, Buchannon and Adams combined for the win.

Region 6 is now 3-0 and will probably face Region 5 (2-0) in the gold medal game tomorrow at 2:00 at Ernie Shore Field depending on the outcome of Region 5's game tonight at 7:00.

Come on up after church tomorrow and enjoy the game!

What a great experience for all the young men involved. It's very rare to see a group of talented individuals come together and form a "TEAM". Kudos!! Not one complaint, that I know of, about playing time, coaching, etc. Heck, even the parents behaved and made friends!!

The coaching staff did an excellent job of putting two equally talented teams on the field, rotating them by innings. Played 4 innings, then 3, then four again. The pitching rotation was equally impressive. What a staff.

And I can't say enough about the players! They can hit!!! Everyone did. They can field. Turned three DP's in the first two games. There was complete communication all over the field. Not one "misplay" because of "I got it, no you take it". And they can run! One college scout remarked, "If I could have this team I wouldn't have to do any recruiting for 2-3 years!"

Those of you who were not fortunate to make the drive to W-S you missed a real treat.

Coach Greeson will be the head coach for the West Senior Team next year and he may not have to look further than this year's roster to find the "chemistry" to bring back another gold medal.

    Congratulations players and coaches!!!!
