State Games

purely a volunteer basis. All HS coaches get player nomination forms in the mail. We also get the chance to apply to coach our region. Once a coach is chosen as an assistant, he will get the opportunity to be the head coach in a following year.

 

Thanks to the Coaches

After a long high school season -both in preparation and the actual season- a big Thank-You to the coaches who are willing to volunteer more of their time to the kids and the game.

Errors

I heard from some East Rowan folks that in the opening loss they had at least 4 errors, maybe 5, and some serious base running problems. Also heard pitching was strong the rest of the way. They only gave up 2 more runs the next two games after they got settled down after the first 4 innings in the first game Thursday. They went 11 innings on Friday, and won in the 7th on Saturday. If this is true, that would be 2 runs over the next 21 innings. Sounds like they just started slow but got it going, a little late. Haven't heard how they did today. I think they were in the game that was to declare 3rd place.

 

Region 3 Champs

Region 3 beat Region 8 in a tight well played game in 10 innings. Eric Brady had the go ahead single that scored Bryan Bass.
Final Score 3-2

Well i'll be danged.... Region 3 wins the Gold. Those stupid coaches sure did pick some sorry players......what were they thinking?

 

How many players hit homeruns in game play. I know region 8 hit 2. Cody Geyer and Tyler White

 

Papagrande, which coaches and what players? Let me guess someone you're close to either didn't get picked for the team or didn't play as much as you thought they should. Shame on you.

 

It seems he is saying that someone said that the coaches suck and they picked horrible players, meaning someone told him that the coaches had no clue because their son wasn't picked or something of that nature. Whoever said it sounds like a total idiot, to make it simple.

 

Brian Goodwin made the play of the game when with the bases loaded and the outfield playing in, a Region 8 player hit a fly ball to CF. Goodwin caught it and threw a one-bounce rope to home to throw out a 6.8 60 runner that tried to tag. This was in the bottom of the 9th I believe? Great play by a great player. He also doubled in 2 runs in the 3rd or 4th. It was a great way to end the Games, 3-2 in 10 innings. We're proud of our Region 8 "mountain" boys!

 

I believe he was being sarcastic. He was referring to some complaints by others about politics and such
