Braves, just be sure that all these rednecks coming to the big city understand the difference between "downtown" (that's where homerun balls go) and "Uptown" (that's where the high dollar "plumbers" work!)

I'm not sure about the limit of 3 per HS rule. In Region 1 Rose, Conley, and Lawrence all have 4 players on the roster. Lawrence won the Independent 1A State title this year and has some really talented guys. Even though their conference schedule was not too tough they played a pretty tough non-conference schedule. I've had the pleasure of coaching several of their guys over the last few summers. Actually I've coached 11 out of the 20 on the region 1 roster and know a little bit about most of them. Of course my son just missed out on this team. He was selected as an alternate at catcher. In my humble opinion (and of course being totally objective) I thought he would be in the top 3 catchers but there's always next year since he is a 2011. I know Warren is a great athlete and Spruill can hit it a ton even though I have not seen him behind the dish. One of the Lawrence kids, Scott Edge, will not be able to attend. He's out of commission for 3 weeks or so with some shoulder soreness. I hate it for him because he's really worked hard to make it this far. Transferred from Columiba HS to Lawrence last year. Hits 85 to 86 consistently as a RHP with decent secondary stuff. He's still growing into his frame and is a young 2011. Can also play about anywhere and hit the ball well this past season.

    State Games: Rain vs. Sunshine

Judging by the radar, it must be raining in Charlotte right now.

Some regions have more large schools than other regions. Region 1 is "special" and can have 4 players from one school. I am not sure if their are other "special" regions or not. Most regions can only have 3 players from one school. There is a reason regions 3, 5, & 6 do well at the state games, they have the most/largest schools.

Correct. While it's hard to criticize such a nice event for high school athletes, I think the organization should consider expanding the Games, and form regions with more regard to population rather than geography.
