Landon Warren (AKA Jeter) broke the state HS career homerun record this afternoon with a missile shot down the left field line. Landon now has 24 career homeruns and plenty of games left to get more.

Unfortunately it came in a 7 - 1 loss to Wakefield but is still an amazing accomplishment!

    Congratulations Landon (and dad)!

    Rock On !!

Miss Landon, was a little worried bout that streak, what a way to keep it intact !! A BIG CONGRATS to an outstanding young lady, who with all these records going is still just as humble, & a team player !! Glad she'll be on my DD's team next yr, & can't wait. Go Landon & Go Pack !!!!!!!!!!

not to take anything away from this young lady, but in a receint conversation on the board, i believe it was stated that the career record for home runs is 26....from a really reliable source. correct me if i'm wrong..

Any idea where the 26 is documented? A previous article in the N&O states...

HOME RUN RECORD: Broughton senior Landon Warren tied the N.C. High School Athletic Association fast-pitch softball career home run record in a 22-4 loss to Garner on Wednesday. Warren's home run was the 23rd of her career and tied her with Mollie Fowler of West Stokes, who graduated in 2005.

Wonder where they got their information from...

I also forgot to mention that this HR kept Landon's consecutive game hit streak (another record) alive and well.

According to state record books, career high was 23 runs set in 2005. so she has set the record book. i've sent out a pm or two trying to find out who stated 26 was the record. congrats to her and hope she keeps going...

    Oh daddy...

If anyone knows, it would be her daddy.

Her last one was ITP but the fences at the fields where they play their home games range from 230 on one field to 260 on another (they are adult rec softball fields). You can never know for sure but I would bet the ball she hit yesterday would have easily cleared a 200 foot fence.

We can speculate on whether a ball would have went out, but it is only speculation. We play on a field where the fence is 212 all the way around and I have seen only 2 balls hit out of it in 7 years in a game. We have had some great players in that time and our opponents have had some great players too. Unless it clears the fence, any fence, it is an inside the park homerun. Does it matter if it clears a fence or not...only the powers that be can answer that.
