How about a list of top 3A teams?

NCBBALLFAN, can you provide a list of the top 3A teams around the state? I feel like (once again) the North Piedmont Conference is one of the toughest 3A conferences in the state. We have 2 teams who are loaded, but we have at least 5 teams that are all capable of beating each other on any given night.

I look forward to seeing our teams face the Tuscolas/TC Robesons in the playoffs.

As a sidenote for Kannapolis, you probably know that it really makes me sick to read your list of top 4A teams, because we (Kannapolis -3A) have a 4-0 record against "3" different 4A teams (East Meck, Central Cabarrus, South Rowan) who are ALL leading their respective conferences. And yet we are struggling to even make the playoffs within our own 3A conference... Go figure...

Have patience wuffie ... building a list state-wide when there isn't a central repository of information ANYWHERE is difficult... I'm working on the 3A projections BUT don't expect 2A projections.

As you get lower in the classifications, the information becomes "sparse" to say the best and "absent" to say the usual.

I am having trouble getting the info out of the east .... but I'm working on it.

    Thanks...

NCBBALLFAN, you are STILL the man!!! Thanks.

Also if I "may" add,,, I have my own Top 3A "Western" teams in this order:
    1- Ragsdale
    2- Tuscola
    3- West Rowan
    4- Northwest Cabarrus
    5- Eastern Randolph
    6- TC Robeson
Best of the rest: Ashbrook, Mooresville, Kannapolis, East Rowan, Franklin, St.Stephens, and East Gaston.

p.s. Yes I can see South Point on my "best of the rest" list too...

Wuffie ...... I know you heavily favor the NPC, but ya gotta include at least a couple more when talking about "dangerous teams" in the Western 3A....

South Point and Piedmont both could play a big part of whatever happens in 3A ball before all is said and done....

obtw: Anyone have an update on how Jimmy Race from Piedmont is doing this year?????

    Western 3A....

NCBBALLFAN, I can add South Point onto my list of "Best of the Rest"; however, I disagree about Piedmont. I've only seen Piedmont twice this year (btw, they lost both games), but the entire SPC is weak. Yes I'm a NPC follower, but I'm also old enough and have no current ties that I'm just being honest about what I've seen too. Again I will use the example of Kannapolis, who is struggling in the tough NPC, but Kann is 3-0 against SPC teams this year (one win against Piedmont, AT Piedmont).

Believe it or not, I would honestly give an SPC team credit if I thought they were a top team in the state, but I don't think so...

Btw, if I was going to add one more team to my list, it would be Hickory...

Just so the information is up to date:

Big South 3A standings. East Gaston beat North Gaston on Friday night after the storm passed. Here's how the conference looks going into today's games/rainouts.

    Ashbrook 8-1, 16-4
    East Gaston 7-3, 13-7
    East Lincoln 6-3, 14-5
    South Point 6-3, 12-7

Remaining: East Lincoln must play South Point and East Gaston.

South Point must play East Lincoln and Ashbrook.

The remainder of the games, for all the above, are with the bottom 3 teams.

If the rain this week cancels the conference tournament, then it will be a "dogfight" for 2nd place. Ashbrook only has to win one of it's final three games to be assured of a tie for 1st, two wins is 1st outright.

Hickory is one of those "gonna REALLY getcha next year" teams to me. They are VERY YOUNG this season and are only going to get better and better over the next 2 seasons.

Not a top 10 contender, dangerous and loaded for bear next season. This team should be considered a pre-season favorite for the 2004 campaign.
