    Key games with Playoff implications....

    Ragsdale 3, East Randolph 2
North Meck 7, Central Cabarrus 6
    Hopewell 7, West Meck 0

North Meck over Central Cabarrus in the Meca 8 changed things around a bit. They are now in 2nd instead of 3rd (Hopewell and North have identical 8-4 records but North owns the tiebreaker) and Independence is pretty much eliminated ... Independence still has one game left with Central this week and Central won't want to drop 2 games before the conference tournament.

Ragsdale held form and beat East Randolph. This puts them in sole posession of first (where we expected them to be) with a tough game with #3 Trinity coming up .... this race is going down to the wire.

With JH Rose's win over Havelock and DH Conley's win over Rocky Mount, Conley vaults into the drivers seat for 2nd in the conference.

Ashley/Hoggard/Laney are battling neck-neck to see who comes out of that conference.........

A game tonight with huge playoff implications is taking place in Kernersville.

#1 PTC (11-1) Glenn takes on #2 (11-1) Northeast Guilford at 7:00 for sole possesion of 1st place. Glenn defeated Northeast in the first game, 5-0 behind a strong performance by Ryan Marion. Glenn is #1 because of the head to head, but a win for either team would leave them in 1st with 3 games remaining.

Also PTC #3 Southwest Guilford can clinch their playoff spot with a win at Greensboro Smith tonight, that game is slated for 4:30. Southwest won the first meeting 7-6, coming from behind to defeat a Smith team that has caused, the top 3 teams much problems this year, taking NE 11 innings, as well as giving Glenn their only conference defeat.

    Concerning East projections.

2A -- not so sure about Edenton -- may not even get in. Look to the stronger EPC reps (i.e. Greene Central - lost a lot out of conf), or possibly the Waccamaw whose teams will be battle tested from the league wars. Agree with S.Granville -- anyone that has someone of Harrison's caliber is a contender. Also, I don't think Chase and Ledford are East 2A, are they?

1A -- looks right on, but I'd give the nod to Williamston. Their pitching is probably better and deeper and their league (top to bottom) may be better.

Final note, never bet against Greenville Rose in 4A baseball. They may not win it, but they are like the energizer bunny. The Rampants are the benchmark. I will be somewhat pulling for Orange (& Black) out of Hillsborough.

I really don't know the 1A/2A teams in the east well enough, but it got the conversation rolling :D

Rose is just awesome with their hitting, but Fuquay is absolutely great on the bump .... Rose has to be the pre-season absolute favorite in 2004, but until someone proves they can knock off FV .....

I bow to your FAR SUPERIOR knowledge down east though .....

    Pac-6 to close to call

    NCBballFan,

While I know you are doing your best. But baseball is a game of chances and situations, and in the Pac-6 situations are changing by chance.
Orange has secured the #1 Pac-6 seed
But everything after that is up in the air.....
Chapel Hill beat Riverside on 5/9 4-3 at Riverside.
Chapel Hill also beat Northern 7-0 on Tuesday, and Jordan last week. This puts them currently (5/10) at 4-4.
This is how the Pac-6 currently looks:
    Orange---------17-2-----------8-0
    Riverside-------15-3-----------5-3
    Chapel Hill------8-9-----------4-4
    Person----------12-8-----------2-5
    Northern---------5-13----------2-5
    Jordan----------10-11----------2-6
CH plays Jordan and Northern next week, so if theory holds they will finish at 6-4.

Riverside plays Orange and Jordan, if theory holds they will finish at 6-4 also

Northern plays Person and Chapel Hill, so they should finish with atleast 6 losses.

Jordan plays Chapel Hill and Riverside, so they should finish with atleast 7 losses.

Person plays Orange and Northern, so they should finish with atleast 6 losses also.

So it all should come down to Northern vs. Person, and Riverside vs. Jordan......
