    Charles B. Aycock

Clayton travelled to Aycock tonight for CBA's first play-off game. CBA broke out a 4-0 win over Clayton to advance them to the next round. Jenny Jackson was the winning pitcher.

Howdy CFBall... I did pretty good, especially defensively. My bat wasn't on fire, but I've never been much of a hitter when it comes to slower pitchers. No offense to the Clayton pitcher, it's just a bit different than what I've seen. I popped up my 1st at bat and if I would turned on it it would have gone cuz it was solid connection, next I sacrificed bunted and advanced the runner, and lastly I hit a line drive but it was caught.

    Enka vs St. Stevens

First round of the 3A playoffs at Enka High

    Enka 3-2 in 10 innings
Katie Blankenship (Enka) and Taylor Queen (St. Stevens) pitched all 10 innings for each team.

Enka got on the board first 1-0 and held that lead until St. Stevens tied the score on a solo homer by Taylor Queen. Enka went back on top with Amber Taylor moving from first to third on an infield throwing error to first. The first baseman bobbled the ball and then threw the ball away trying to eat Amber out at third. Amber scored on the throwing error. Enka held the lead until the top of the seventh. With a runner on second the ball was hit to the Shortstop and a throwing error over the first baseman allowed the runner to score from second. The scored stayed tied until the bottom of the 10th inning when Whitney Hinson lead off with a single and the ball got away from the left fielder allowing Whitney to take second on the hit. Katie Searcy then hit a single up the middle to score Whitney. Both teams competed and played hard. I hate to bring it up but there were many blown calls by the umpires. I know everybody blames them but I think that calls were blown against both teams but St. Stevens got more than their share of them. Good Luck to Taylor Queen and Emily as they move on to play at the next level and also to the rest of the players that I don't know so well..
Next Game at Ashbrook, either monday the 24th or Tuesday the 25th.
