    East Rowan 9
    Southwest Guilford 1

    WP: Corbin Shive
    LP: Ethan Ogburn

Shive outshined Ogburn tonight on the mound to lead the East Rowan Mustangs to a third round win against Ethan Ogburn and the Southwest Guilford Cowboys. Shive also hit a two-run homer off of Ogburn. Ogburn escaped trouble in the 1st inning with the bases loaded and one out, but ER broke through with two runs in the top of the 2nd inning. SWG responded with a run in the bottom half, but could not manage any more runs against the East pitching tonight of Shive and Kent Basinger. Ethan "Skip" Fisher had a big night for East going 3 for 4 with three hits off of NC State signee Ogburn. East hitters did not seem intimidated against Ogburn. Ogburn does have some great stuff, I know that he had pitched in the first two playoff games for SWG and he was probably a little worn. The Shive two-run blast really seemed to take the wind out of his sails. East moves on to play NPC foe Lake Norman (who won 5-2 over Marvin Ridge tonight) Tuesday night at Lake Norman. Should be another interesting contest between these two.

Congrats to SWG on a fine season.

    Sanderson pitchers

In 21 innings Sanderson's starting pitchers; P/1B Charles Wolfe 2 CG's(Wingate) and C/P Max Gagnon (UNCP) 1 CG have given up 1 earned run and 7 hits. Solid defense behind them are making the plays.

    Playoff baseball at its best.

East Rowan beat my pick to win it all (Lake Norman) in their final regular season meeting, but then ER "escaped" a close one to Piedmont in Round 1. After beating Parkland 16-3 and now SW Guilford's ace, ER is back.

Is it a final, Lake Norman over Marvin Ridge? Haven't seen any LN posters yet, was starting to be concerned.

    Eastern Wayne 4 - South Central 3

South Central took an early 2 - 0 lead with a 2 run HR by catcher Corey Bolam. SC was up 3 to 1 when John Wooten sent a long fly over the right field fence. A couple of SC miscues contributed to the game tying run in the 6th. Eastern Wayne wins in the bottom of the eighth with a walk-off HR by Walker Gourley. Tough game all the way around. South Central made a nice run in the playoffs and was a play or 2 from advancing further. Ben Longton pitched a nice game for SC and Ethan Cochran pitched them out of a jam late. Good luck to Eastern Wayne the rest of the way.

    North Buncombe over Foard

Fred T. Foard lost a tough game tonight. They were leading 2-0 going into the 4rth inning with Mckinney pitching a 1 hitter when he appeared to hurt his throwing arm.The young sophomore who replaced him played his heart out but got rocked for 4 runs in the 4rth.Foard never recovered but what a great season they had.
