    Wild Card Records

The West gets 4 Wld Card spots! Who will it be!!

NW 4A- Freedom (17-6) or Alexander Central (13-6)

    SW 4A Providence or Weddington

Let's hear some nams and records. I'm fairly sure that Freedom or Alexander will get a spot(whoever finishes 3rd)

Hears that Prov. and Wedd. records are very good. That could only leave 2 spots.

Too bad for the Davie Co. seniors. Due to a lack of interest from the DC head coach, the team did not reschedule 3 games rained out earlier in the year. After parents explaining to the coach the possible wild card implications of not making up these games, she basically said the girls would be more interested in graduation/end of school activities rather than playing more softball. So by not having an interest in rescheduling these games, Davie Co. will not qualify for a wild card due to a over all lower winning percentage than teams they finished above in the conference.

This coach is basically a spectator anyway. She has stood in the 3rd base box for years and has never called a signal. She leaves that up to a parent and this year after a volunteer assistant quit, the jv coach (who is also a volunteer) was in the first base box calling signals.

This coach also lets the players plan and run "practices" while she sits in the dugout. Why these DC parents have let this go on for this many years is unbelievable. But it's their own fault. Too bad for a talented group of girls over the past several years.

    Southern Piedmont

North Lincoln is the 2A #1 seed from Southern Piedmont.
West Lincoln is 2A #2 seed from SP unless a lower seed wins conference.
Cherryville is # 1 seed from SP @ 1A level.

Stop being mean spirited and disrespectful to the DC girls who go out there and work hard for their program and their school. I am disappointed in your lack of respect for other programs. Our girls would very much like to be in the playoffs....you make it sound as though we wouldn't, that's not so....
our school activities involve graduation and junior marshall obligations.... to have 3 juniors in the top 10 of their class on one softball team escorting and taking part in the end of year activities with 4 seniors who have been their friends for years, speaks volumes for both academics and character (or maybe you wouldn't understand that). Stop bashing our girls and our parents... we are NOT out recruiting from other schools, we shake hands at the end of the game in a sportsmanlike manner, and we realize there will be life with or without a state playoff bid. It's sad you had to take the opportunity to tear down these girls. We have lost respect for your comments.

Wolf2,I don't think you read the same post I wrote.I was merely stating that it is a shame that the DC girls have to have such a coach as they have. They deserve better than that!I know half of that team & think the world of them.I KNOW how much talent is on that team.I also stated they deserve to be in playoffs.I'm sorry you may have misunderstood my post.I think Bmac feels the same.We sympathize !

Wolf2- I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to coach in the summer at least 10 of the players from last year and this year's teams. So I know the talent that is and has been on this team. From 2000 through 2004, these young ladies won many tournaments and always played late in the day on Sunday afternoons. As a 14U team, they were ranked in USSSA as the number 1 team in the nation for almost the entire summer and also finished tied for for 5th in the NSA super world series in Peoria, IL.

The point I was making in agreeing with softball nut was that it is hard to understand why basically the same group of girls can be so successful in the summer, but struggle so much in the high school season. I really feel for these girls as I know how hard they worked for so long. Several will or will at least, have the opportunity to play in college. But IMO, it is past time for some major changes to take place with the DC program. Again, with a little thinking by the athletic administration/coach, this team would be playing in the state tournament next week.

No one has been disrespectful or mean spirited or tried to tear down these ladies. But it is just very disheartening to know what could have been with this team. But I will say this, there remains a lot of talent and the 2007 team can compete with for the conference title, but ONLY if certain changes are made by the athletic administration at DCHS.:twocents:

If Madison (15-4) can win their final game tomorrow vs. Mtn. Heritage, making them 16-4, I think they have a shot at the 2-A wildcard.
