STEP UP TO THE PLATE FOR THE USMC...

A friend of mine has a son serving with the USMC in Iraq. They want to play baseball and softball when they are off duty. However, they have no equipment. We need to step up to the plate and help out. They need any equipment they can get (baseballs, softballs, bats, gloves, etc...) anything to play. When they leave they will either leave the equipment for their replacements or give it to the Iraqi children.

Here is my suggestion:

Please set up a collection area at your high school games and see what you get.

These Marines and soldiers are laying it on the line for us, lets step up to the plate and see how much we can send them.

What a great idea, Coach. It would be nice to give something back to the guys that are fighting for our freedom.

I hope we can get some organizers at the HS's to help with this great cause. I have a ton of "pearls", bat bags and shoes to donate, so I hope this helps!

I challenge all our members to get behind this and to spread the word....we need equipment for our soldiers!

 

Coach Evans, is there a time frame that we need to get the equipment to you? I will try to organize for Lake Norman High School and see what we can put together.

Troops can train the kids

Yes send everything anyone can gather up as there is an entire country of kids in Iraq that I bet would love to play the greatest game on earth.

 

Thanks!! As I look at this endeavor, I see a great thing we can do. We all have used equipment that our soldiers and the kids in Iraq can use. Delores asked originally about picking up stuff around April 1. That gives us a month. I think we can handle that. Collect stuff at games, whereever and we can work out a way to get it picked up. It may be that we need to organize and have some of you volunteer to get the equipment together and meet me somewhere. I just hope we can get a bunch of equipment. I hope to email members of the NC Baseball Coaches Association as a way to get the word out.
