Does anyone have advice for how a kid can find a spot? Which camps, events are truly geared towards unsigned seniors. He has attended some "advertised" as "unsigned senior camps"...turned out it was a bit of false advertising.

He , of course, is attending many of the specific college camps as well.

    Two suggestions.....maybe three.......

If any of his friends who have committed would agree to recommend him to coach at their college it would get him a second look. The friend must, of course, believe he deserves a look.

Get accepted at college he wants to attend and walk on.

    Write more letters.

I would say that your son needs to make an honest assessment of his own abilities, or better yet go to a respected coach in the area and have an assessment done for him. Then send emails to the coaches at the schools that fit him academically, socially and athletically. Do not get discouraged. My son did not sign until May and he loves it where he is. Most coaches will at least give a token look at all who email them. It may just be a call to the hs coach. He will then decide if to follow up more seriously. Do not forget juco. It is alot cheaper, many play at a very high level, and you get plenty of exposure for continuing at a 4 year school.
