The Copperhead Organization offers teams at age 8 to 18 + a College Team that participates in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League.

    Showcase teams: 16U, 17U, 18U
These teams patricipate in various showcases: Impact, Perfect Game, USA Baseball Junior Olympics and the Diamond Devils along with local showcases.
The Copperheads normally hold showcases of their own: 2 showcases in the summer & 2 in the Fall.
For the past 2 years tryouts have been held at Mt. Pleasant High School; These tryouts have been very well organized and attended by 10-15 colleges coaches & professional scouts.
These tryouts are usually mid February for summer, and early August for the Fall season.

Good Luck to Coach Suggs and the Copperheads!

I played for Freddy for about six months. He is a great coach and he will get your name out there for college coaches. I played along with Brandon Yarborough, so as you know many scouts were there to see him and so in turn they had a chance to see other players. The one thing about Freddy is that parents, you need to let him coach his team. One thing he can't stand, like every other coach I know, is that they hate to be told by parents how to coach. But Freddy is a great guy and will tell you like it is and how he sees things. So you have to take what he tells you and work at it because that is what he thinks your weakness is. Just bust your butt on and off the field and he wont have a problem with you. This is a great pick-up for the Copperheads and best of luck to them in future.

Freddy might be one of the only guys I have met who tells you straight up how he feels about a players ability. LC touched on it a little bit, but he is a very blunt coach, so you always know where you stand with him. He is a great baseball mind who is suprisingly not a very big discipline guy. He doesn't tell you how to act on or off the field, doesn't tell you day in/day out to hustle, etc, because he wants to see if his players will take the initiative and do the right thing without having someone stand over them. Don't think he's not watching though, he sees everything, kinda like santa claus. It's almost scary, but he has earned the respect from college coaches all over NC, but most importantly he's earned respect from his players. A true class act and I wish him the best with the Copperheads.

A great pick up for the Copperheads - The thing that sticks out the most to me was his clinic on hitting he gave at a Pfeiffer University camp a couple of years ago. I was sitting off to the side listening and absorbing all I could - Hopefully the kids were too, because his presentation on hitting and mechanics and a batter's approach at the plate was the best I ever heard. I walked away very impressed needless to say - and their isn't a batting center in the Charlotte Area I haven't been to over the years.

Now, if you really want to top this off, the possible addition of Austin Alexander to the Copperheads would be fantastic! Talk about instant credibility. I think if these two were to work together it would change the landscape of showcase ball in NC. There's lots of grumbling about Alexander's surprise dismissal.:twocents:
