    Hey guys...

Just so you guys aren't in the dark in regard to why I might go to Alaska or why we have so many players going away, here I go...

Coach Williams (UNC Pitching Coach) is in charge of placing us on our summer ball teams. I beleive that at this point there are 8 UNC players scheduled to play in the Cape League next summer. Others will play in New England, but a majority will play in the CPL. In my case, I was the one who asked him to see if he could look into setting me up with a team in Alaska. I have heard numerous good things first-hand about the league and I think that it would be an awesome experience to play in Alaska against some of the best competition from the west coast. Much of which I will not get to go up against unless it was in Omaha. So that it is clear, I was the one who asked Coach to see what he could do for me in the Alaskan League and one of the first things that he said was, "I would like to see you play this summer and if you go there, I most likely would not be able to...but if that is where you end up wanting to go, I have no problem with that." My point is, these Coaches are not like others that you may have encountered who would use their players in such manners previously mentioned, they don't have time for that mess, they are too busy working on bettering us and recruiting the players that will help us achieve our goals. They are some of the least selfish people that I know.

I hope that this gives you a better feel for how things actually are up here.

And one more thing, all coaches want their players to play in the best possible leagues. Their job is to better their own players and program, not the nearby summer leagues. If it means sending them to the Cape or Alaska Leagues(funded by the two leagues and not the UNC athletic program) to accomplish this, that is what they will do. If the best situation is within 500 miles, then that is where they will send us. But the fact is, the best ball in the summer right now are in those leagues over 500 miles away.

    Have a good one everyone.

Alaska, Cape Cod, and the Jaywawk have always had suprerior talent compared to the local leauges. Its a no brainer. The local leagues are for secondary talent.

Very true in the past ....

But the CPL has climbed up there strongly as has Northwoods and Valley ... Jayhawk is slipping.

Cape is still #1, Alaska is #2 ..... the rest are tight ...
