Presently, there are a limited number of choices for NC college players when it comes to summer baseball. The Coastal Plains League and Southern Collegiate offer local teams with games almost every day and the host family proposition. I am curious if a league could be formed that played only on the weekends (doubleheaders Sat and Sun). This would allow kids to attend summer school or work and live at home during the summer. I know that there is interest in the Triangle, but I am curious if there would be interest in Charlotte, the Triad and other regions in NC. I checked today and the NCAA is no longer certifying summer baseball, so this "new league" would have to work to obtain the best players that, as I indicated earlier, wanted to go to summer school or live and work at home during the summer. The caliber of players would obviously be dependent on who would be attracted to a league formed with this proposition. I do not envision this league as anything other than an alternative situation for kids to consider. Any thoughts out there?

My thought would be to start some teams and play double headers evenings and weekends .
You can most likely join AAU/USSSA like organizations to gain insurance and just go play.. even if you can only muster enough players for 2 or 3 teams you can play alot of games in just under 2 months .

Or just be like in Sandlot and do alot of practicing . :1peekdoor

    Southern Collegiate League

Players in the Southern Collegiate League have been able to attend summer school, work, and live at home. My son has played in the league the past three summers. He has to work this summer as a part of his internship for his degree major. With the SCBL, he's been able to work, live at home, play baseball, and be close to his girlfriend. What more could you ask for?

Thanks PapaBear for the reply. I think the SCBL is a great alternative for kids that live in the Piedmont and Western part of NC. We really lack for something like the SCBL in the Triangle and East. We do have the ENSBL which is not as organized as the SCBL. Our team in Raleigh has players from UNC, NCSU, Campbell, Harvard, Methodist, Mt. Olive, UNC-W, etc. and some of the other teams have some good players too. Perhaps the best idea is to form an Eastern division of the SCBL.
