Can anyone give us information about PGCBL or Prospect Leagues? Son is trying to make a decision--coach said it's his to make, and he wants to play in the more competitive league that provides the most opportunities for exposure. Anyone with any experience with either league?

    Thanks.

you might want to consider playing Legion ball in the summer for free and using a portion of the $6-10K you could easily spend in fees and travel to attend prospect camps put on by colleges that you son would have an intrest in (get him to get great grades too....from what i have been told open lots of doors) good luck to your son

Has your coach contacted the teams in these leagues? It is one thing to want to play in the league and another getting placed on a team in the league. My suggestion would be for the coach to contact the teams and see who has an opening in his position. My son plays college baseball and his placement is by his coach's contacts. They have kids going to SCBL, Coastal Plains, Valley, Jayhawk, Northwoods and Cape. Good luck to your son but get the coach involved.

Oops sorry misread original question. We had a player that played for pineville pioneers in the summer and had a great experience. His college coach set it up.

My son also played in the scbl last summer and it was a great experience with a great bunch of guys and an awesome host family but he wants to play in a different location this summer and has the opportunity. He has offers from these two leagues and wants to make an informed choice. That's why I asked if anyone had experience with either. Btw...it is summer collegiate ball...Prospect league is free. Don't know about PGCBL. And he played legion... For 4 years...he's too old now.

Longest Bus Rides ? - Prospect League. (across 6 states? wow.)
History ? - PG been around since 2010. Prospect since 1963
Coverage by Baseball America, OurSportsCentral, Ballpark Digest? - PG (2), Prospect (3).
Closest to home? Nod goes to PG (unless they play for Beckley WV)
Closest to history? PG plays in Cooperstown next to Hall of Fame.

all that aside, It all comes down to relationships & coaching. who's going to coach and get your son better. ha ha....best fishing goes to the CapeCod league & Alaska.

best of luck. your son must have some talent.

Thanks, Post15. It is a tough decision and we can't seem to find anyone who has had actual experience in either league from around here. I am just glad he has the opportunity to play.
