AK Doubles the Suspensions for Ejections

The principal at Ardrey Kell automatically doubles the suspensions - so a two game suspension becomes four.

Mind your "P's and Q's" boys,,,,

it was awesome...the crowd got behind us and weddington crowd got behind them. Both teams had opportunities to put it away but wanted to get their moneys worth. it was nice to see fans 5 and 6 deep on the home side and very excited. Exciting for me from the dugout side. the kids played with heart and never got down and just kept fighting. :drummer:

Myers Park 11 Ardrey Kell 10

In a battle of unbeatens Tuesday night at MPHS, Myers Park scored last to outlast AK in a hard fought but sloppy game, to advance to 8-0. With aces Alex Wood for AK and Chris Overman for MP pitching in front of a spill over crowd and numerous scouts, MP jumped out to a 9-3 lead after 3 innings. Wood was lifted in the third, Overman in the fourth. AK battled back to first tie the game and then take a 10-9 lead as Alex Baker kept the MP offense in check. MP scored one in the fifth on a Brian Holberton single to tie, and went ahead in the sixth on a Matthew Hedberg single. Robert Balsley came in to pitch the last two for MP, giving up two singles, while getting the last six outs. The slugfest ended with Balsley striking out the last AK batter swinging; after the teams totalled 26 hits, 9 walks, 2 HBP, 1 catcher interference and 10 errors in almost 3 hours of high school baseball.

MPHS is scheduled today to complete a game suspended by rain in the top of the fifth at Weddington, with MP ahead 4-2. Thursday MP hosts East Meck. With the monsoons in the forecast, these games will probably be re scheduled.
