SW4A is 4-4 against the little 'ol Southern Carolina Conference.

SW4A scored 26 total runs, while the SCC scored 25.

Looks like the 3A (PR is 4A) squads from Union County do pretty well against all of the highly touted/ promoted teams from the Big City! 3 out of the 4 wins were against AK, Prov, and SM.

It doesn't look like the boys from across the county line are skeered of the mighty SW4A!

    4th Place

    Congratulations!

4 and 4 puts you in 4th place a half a game ahead of East Meck and Independence.

Predictions - enjoy it while it lasts

Although I get your boasting....I'm not sure I follow your logic. A conference going 4-4 doesn't put a conference in the middle of the SW4A. Just like Olympic beating 2 SW4A teams, does not put them on top of the SW4A.

The trend for baseball talent in Charlotte seems to be moving away from the center. As I watched little league, then challenge leagues before the mass exodus departure for travel ball, the better teams were moving toward suburbs. For the current middle schooler players, when they played in little league, the stronger teams were Weddington, Olde Providence, CoulOak, Mathews (Mara), Steele Creek, and Mint Hill, Piedmont. The weak teams were Dillworth, Park Sharon, Pineville - simply were non-competitive. Then most all went to play travel baseball. My prediction is that the trend will continue. You will begin to see the Union County High Schools dominate over the SW4A. Particularly Marvin Ridge, Weddington, and Cuthbertson. They used to have 20 little league teams per age, versus 8 to 10 of other organizations. The only ones that will keep pace will be Providence and AK because of 1) their current coaching 2)the OP & MARA organizations, and 3) the travel/showcase baseball organizations keeping players on the right track. Olympic may get stronger for a while, as well as the suburb schools north of Charlotte. So enjoy it while it lasts, unless you support Myers Park, Independence, or Butler. E.Meck and S. Meck are in that "transitional zone" but IMO the decline will happen, in next 2-4 years. Off course this doesn't factor in the private schools obtaining talent, which may accelerate the swing of dominance.

Like I said...it's just a prediction. :60: No ill will. Just passing time. But I much rather enjoy a player-by-player quest for excellence and celebrate their success.

:N1butbutHL: I don't think you can compare leagues for I've seen coaches not throw their studs against non league smaller schools, yet the smaller schools (depending on schedules) throw the kitchen sink to get the win. Its the same as a little guy picking a fight with a bigger guy. What does the bigger guy gain? If the little guy wins, then he knocked off someone worth bragging about, if he loses, oh well, he should have. No win for the big guy and in this case SW4A. Additionally, I'd agree with the Philly guy, follow the movement outward, i.e., follow the new money. Baseball follows the rich and great programs like AK and PHS.

With the AK- W game, each teams best took the mound.
In the SM- W games- each team threw their # 1 and #2.
In the Prov- W game Prov threw 6 pitchers, W threw it's #1. (Prov played W between two conference games and conserved pitching for the conference game)
Generally speaking, if you do not have your best pitch against either of W, AK, Prov., SM or Marvin Ridge.....your setting your team up for a loss.

When compared against the same teams......
SM is 0-2 against AK and Prov
    Prov is 1-0 against AK

Taking out the "also rans" to compare heads up.....Not quite the same impression. SCC is 3-3 against the top three clubs in the SW4A. W vs L, Runs Allowed vs Runs Scored....a pretty even group between the conferences. IF Marvin Ridge and Weddington were in the SW4A.....they would be in the top tier.
