He pitched a couple of innings in the second game this past Saturday. Had control problems. Mailman will still be their number one guy!

    Scrimmage game

Myers Park travelled to Gastonia to take on Ashbrook High School. Myers Park played well and won going away.

    After 7 innings:
Myers Park 11 (Nate Cudney 4IP, Hank Stephens 2IP, Tom Girdwood 1IP)
    Ashbrook 2

    After 10 innings:
Myers Park 13 (Chris Overman 2IP, Andy Wilson 1IP, Chip Gaul 1IP)
    Ashbrook 2

The Mustangs may offer a challenge in the SW4A this year.

Again this was just a scrimmage so I didn't take down any exact stats. But several Mustangs hit doubles.

As an extra note: Andy Wilson is a 6' 3" freshman for Myers Park - he will probably make a name for himself within the next 4 years. He has some good genes too - his brother's name is Rob and plays D1 for Davidson.

Agree mincmi.....I got to see most of this game and the Sabres need to clean up their act...not just fielding errors but fundamentals like know where your runners are, angles on balls in the outfield, base running mistakes, know the right pitches to throw in certain counts etc.

The SW4A is way to strong of a conference to just slide through with an average game....I hope they make the adjustments as there is some very good talent at South Meck this year....if not it could be a long season for Sabre Nation.

Hopefully, with time, the guys will adjust not having Bagwell out there doing his thing and believe in what Coach J is now teaching. You're right, things are different now, but you "HAVE" to believe and hope in the program. Fielding has to get better,........or at least it better!

    August SW4A Prediction

This is my post from August.......before the new coach even got to SM.

The new SM coach is not currently a baseball or football coach at Stoney Point HS in Round Rock TX. He is the Golf coach. CMS strikes again! What a fiasco. Quit kidding yourselves. 2007 they'll finish 3rd or 4th and then it will really tank. They simply will not keep up with PHS, AK and Weddington................................

Agree PD...I'm not writing the program off. Someone is going to need to step up and provide some leadership to get these guys heading the right direction.
