90 flat or movement will get the majority of HS players out. Mix that in with other pitches that can be thrown for strikes, he will be near unhittable.

I agree that an excellent hitter loves a flat FB, but if you can keep them from sitting dead red---it's tough.

Agreed. I have not seen Thorton throw so I am not sure what kind of stuff he has but I've heard he's pretty solid. I know for a fact from personal experience that McCue has some pretty nasty stuff to go with that 90+. It's fun to watch him throw. You definitely feel for the guy in the box.

attended the west stanley / providence game. Providence scored most of its runs of NC State signee Demetrus Ingram. Of course it was early in the year and none of the pitchers were sharp, but Providence did look impressive both at the plate and on the mound. Not sure of the score for they did not post it, but I would guess 9-4 Providence.

Usually it's the pitchers that are ahead of the hitters at this time of the year! If the Panthers bats are doing this now, what will happen when they really get in the groove. From what I have been told, that the Panthers hitters worked out over the winter with a former Panther and All-Conference (UNCP) outfielder by the name of Kevin Dietrich.
