gbacks -- We can piece some of it together, but I don't know much either. I know that Butler got the 5 seed and MP the 6, and I think it is because you work from the top since they split, and Butler beat South once (both were swept by PHS). I don't know who won the Waddell/Garinger game Tuesday (you recorded a Garinger win in the standings), so I don't know who PHS will play and who South will play. If Garinger did win, I suspect it is a coin flip for 7/8.

In any event, I know MP plays East at South on Monday. I don't know what time yet. I also know the finals are Thursday at UNCC, in a SW 4A/ME-CA 8 double header. I think the semi-finals are Wednesday at South, but I don't know why I think that.

So at Providence on Monday it is #4 Olympic vs. #5 Butler and #1 PHS vs. #8 Garinger/Waddell and at South on Monday it is #3 East vs. #6 Myers Park and #2 South vs. #7 Waddell/Garinger. Then on Wednesday at South (I think), the four winners play in the semifinals, with the championship on Thursday at UNCC, probably in the first game of the double header (last year the ME-CA 8 game was first when it was at Providence).

If others have times and the Garinger/Waddeell situation, we'll be able to put it all together.

East Meck 11, Myers Park 7

I had a work obligation tonight and missed the game (only my second missed MP game of the year), but unfortunately it was the last one for the Mustangs (and my son :weeping: ). I am sure I will get more details later, but Myers Park built a 7-1 lead over the first three innings only to blow the lead, in part due to 6 errors in the later innings, and I'm sure in part due to East's hitting. I understand East made their share of errors as well. Taylor Bryant relieved Jake Raynor down 7-1 and pitched 3 1/3 innings of shut out ball, giving way to Brett Alter with one out in the seventh and bases loaded. Alter induced a game-ending double play grounder to short that ended the game and the Mustangs' season.

I will get more details and post them later. Congratulations to the Eagles. They advance to the semi-finals and will play South Meck for the third time, having beaten them both times during the regular season. It should be an interesting game.

    East Meck 11 Mustangs 7

The baseball Gods worked for both sides tonight with the 2nd half of the game leaning to the Eagles side of the field. Tate pitched great and the eight runs added in the bottom of the sixth sure helped his cause. I'm glad that I came back from the beach to see this one. The game was a roller coaster ride but worth the price of admission. Sure hope all those junior arms can make some noise next year for the Mustangs. I think that Bryant kid likes Hal's field. Maybe these kids can help each other for Clewis' Legion team.

:xyzthumbs...need to find a way to talk Tate into playing Legion this summer. I know he is ready to hang the spikes up, but this summer's Legion will be fun

East Meck vs Myers Park Game

A little bit lost in the shuffle was another fine pitching performance by Mustangs junior Jordan Cudney. He started for the Mustangs and pitched a 3 hitter through 5 complete innings. As soon as he was taken off the mound the East Meck team came to life and scored 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take control of the game. As noted in the other posts, Taylor Bryant was the man for East Meck as his relief work on the mound kept the game from getting out of hand early on. Many defensive errors on both sides throughout the game. East Meck will need to play a more solid game against South Meck in their next game. East Meck has already beaten South Meck twice this year so things could get interesting at the ball field today.....

It was amazing. I arrived at the game and it was 7-1 MP. EM looked like they were soundly beaten.....then bam...hits, errors (mental as well) by MP and the next thing you know, EM was ahead.

You are right. Jordan Cudney pitched a great game. He deserved better.

I still think East Meck is the best hitting team in the city and nothing yesterday changed my opinion. They can crush fastballs and hanging curves with the best of them. You must keep their hitters off balance to have success with them.
