East Meck 1 South Meck 0

Okay, first of all, I have to give props to East Meck and Chet Greeson. They've owned South Meck this year.

This game seems to have driven Braves over the edge. He was last seen on the soccer board.

Two 1-0 games in the semifinals. Doesn't get much better than that. Cory Dunning came through in the bottom of the seventh with a big Ribeye hit to left field to score a Panther at the plate to end the game. Hats go off to Brett the Eagle Scout Alter on his, hold on I'm counting, sixth complete game of the year. He is one cool cucumber on the mound. Too bad his dad wasn't there to see it. A very good stat guy told me his line went something like this. 7IP, shutout, 3H, 4 K's, 1 BB, 1 pickoff, 81 pitches; 54 for strikes. Hapi needs to get back into town in a hurry, sounds like Braves could use a hug. South, IMHO, is not done. They still have enough talent, arms and firepower to make a run if they want to.

ahhh......and that's the difference. Can't turn it on and off.

Kudos to Brett Alter. The kid is an assassin. Chip Smith and Justin Schumer made some great plays in the field.

Matt Andruss was phenomenal again in relief. The kid is awesome.

Dragbunt..it would be nice to see the kids be upset after this loss vs "what's for dinner". I dunno..I know times have changed and so have priorities, but I don't think you can ever lose your passion to compete.

    PROVIDENCE 1 Butler 0

Mitch Besselievre locked up in another pitchers duel. Seems like it happens every week. Butler's Whitten pitched a whale of a game, giving up 3 hits in 6+ innings and Mitch gave up two in 7. Apparently, it was Whitten's first start of the year. The Panthers had apparently scored the go ahead run in the bottom of the sixth when Mitch Besselievre hit a slow roller to third with bases loaded and two outs. He appeared to beat the throw to first BUT the UMPIRE CALLED HIM OUT--to the disbelief of all the die-hard Panther Fans!! It made the 7th inning all that more dramatic. David Scism walked and was sacrificed to 2nd...only the same umpire called him out at 2nd. The throw from the pitcher pulled the shortstop atleast 2 feet off the bag. Again, the Panther fans went crazy....BUT Austin Stephensen singled to left putting Dane Arneson on 2nd. Cory Dunning drilled a base hit to left and Dane scored on the play. NO play at the plate and for that the Panther Fans are sincerely grateful!! Three for three would have been too much to take!!

Butler played a fantastic game and gave the Panthers all they could handle.
Besselievre gets the WIN (6-3) and the #5 Panthers are now 22-4 on the season.

PHS plays East Meck for the Tourney Championship tomorrow night at UNCC. Game time is 5pm........... This is a rematch of last Year's Championship Game, Won by PHS, 5-2.
