    My opinions:
Butler - team to beat but not by a wide margin. I would love to have seen this team play with Freeman not hurt. 2 big time players in point guard Stewart (19.9 points per game) and center Watkins with strong role players in Newman and Dunovant. Good depth, even while 2 of the top 4 guards are out of action. This team will be strong for years to come, as they only have one senior contributing.

East Meck - could be leading the conference if not for a flat performance against Butler. Look out for the rematch at the Dawg Pound. Stars in Spencer and Tollier. Tough and aggressive team - fun to watch.

Weddington - doesn't seem to have been hurt by split with Marvin Ridge High School. Well coached, good shooting team. Not as athletic as competitors but they make up for it in their spread the floor offense. Team is full of good shooters. Had Butler on the ropes and let it slip away in regulation, losing in overtime. Excellent shooting team with points from all positions. Zone busters! Sebastian made 8 3-pointers in one game!

Ardrey Kell - has some good players - just not enough of them. This team will improve over the next couple of years, as it is only in its second year of existence.

Independence - very different team from last year following the loss of their coach and several star players. Kennedy is a force on the inside but does not have any shooters to open the floor.

South Meck - this team is better than their record. Freshman Burdick missed several weeks with an injury and the team suffered. Burdick is a very talented player but needs to continue her adjustment to high school basketball. Similar player to Joy Cheek, in that she has size, quickness and ballhandling skills. She will be a force over the next couple of years - but she needs help. Awuruanye can score.

Providence - still suffering from the split with Ardrey Kell. This team is not very athletic with very few scoring options.

Myers Park - Stephens can be an inside force in limited minutes. This team cannot keep up in a transistion, fast paced game.
