Jerry Sacharski, 93 of Michigan. Believed to possibly be the inventor of T-ball as an organized sport in 1956.

T-ball's purpose? : "To help youngsters develop baseball skills while eliminating one of the sport's most difficult aspects: hitting a pitched ball".

QUESTION: In today's youth baseball progression, are there kids out there that "play up" immediately and skip the t-ball level?

In my opinion kids should not skip tball. I was a tball commissioner at our youth center for 7 years and this is the greatest group of all age groups. My favorite time of the season is trophy day when I was standing there at the table and seeing them participate in their first ceremony and walking up to me and their coach to shake hands and for most of them to receive their very first trophy. Nothing compares to the smile on their little faces. I wouldn't trade those times for anything. They grow up too fast anyway and really, is a 5 year really that good to play up?

Ah, hello.......they still work off t's in the big leagues.....I suppose it should be good enough for a 7 year old.

I know that's not the answer to your question, I just think it's funny that many people think t-ball is for losers when in fact it's an invaluable practice tool for the best in the game.
