I opened this thread to see what everyone's opinion was of the State Tournament in Raleigh..Let me first start by saying, Congratulations to all the teams that made it..........This is in no way intended to insult anyone but to see if their is anyway to work on the problem.....I have been to travelball tournaments for years, it seem to me the State is trying to bankrupt me in many ways but EVEN AT RALEIGH! NO TAILGATING, NO RE-ENTRY, NO FOOD OR DRINKS taken in, 10.00 ADMISSION FEE, 3.00 PARKING FEE, $$$$$$$$$$
Then to add hotel, food and travel sounds kind of over the top.....I know you incurre several of these expences at travel ball, but THIS IS HIGH SCHOOL, our taxes pay for a lot of this.........CAN I BORROW SOME MONEY FROM SOMEONE?

What do you think? Just venting a little!

    AGREE!

It's as if they know people will come, so let's just see how much they can get.......much like our gas prices! THEY ARE RIGHT THOUGH, if you are interested you will find some way to pay for it........GOT to be a better way.........It would sur feel better if it was a little less expensive and the facilities were a little better.

Got to make up for those budget shortfalls anywhere they can, even if it means charging more for attending a tournament but eliminating middle school and JV programs. It is a God given right to gripe about things, but we can always choose not to go and spend that money elsewhere. I may get the chance to do just that this Summer. Find out what it's like to get in some golf and surf fishing again, and regain my sanity....LOL. Hope this helps.

It may be a moot point. It looks like rain is going to be all day Friday with clearing Saturday. Usually, they are pretty strict about not playing on the fields after they've had a fair amount of rain. Raleigh Parks & Rec certainly wouldn't allow as much effort as was put out at Taylorsville to make the fields playable.

Does anyone have any idea what the backup plans would be for rain-out games? Late into Saturday or Saturday and Monday? Can't play on Sunday--right?

That would take care of a couple of problems. The West Stokes situation would smooth right out. And more people could be there Sunday that wouldn't have made it Friday afternoon. And if you've got someone in the championship game on Monday, it's worth calling in sick (oops, I mean game).

    Move the games

Time to rotate. Excellent facilities across the state and time to move out of Raleigh. Amazing what happens when you open the bidding process. Might even celebrate the teams that make it instead of just take your money.

Hate to say it but if you try to take it from Raleigh you won't get much resistance. We lost the PONY Nationals with nary a shot fired!

I think what happens here is the decision makers are more into basketball. And I think Charlotte even took that away. They think we still use Confederate money I guess.
