Aunt Bee's NC travel ball rankings should be ready Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, I wanted to share some sad news. Taylor Foster, the young softball player who inspired people with her love of the game and her battle with bone cancer, died on Saturday at age 17. Her passing came on the weekend that Tim Doby and Got Game Fastpitch were holding a Taylor Foster benefit tournament in Eden to raise money for her scholarship fund.

I never had the honor to meet Taylor, but was moved by this feature that a local TV station did back in December.

    Taylor's obituary:

Taylor Dawn Foster, age 17 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2014 after a 4 year battle with Osteosarcoma. She was a native of Guilford County and the daughter of Brian and Wendy Foster.
Taylor was a graduate of the 2014 class of Northeast High School. She attended Apple's Chapel Christian Church and was active in the Apple's Chapel Student Ministry. She was adopted as a "Sister Nole" by the FSU Women's Softball Team. She played softball since she was 7 years old beginning with rec ball and continuing into middle school with Northeast Middle before being diagnosed with cancer. She loved hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. Taylor was an avid fan of country music star, Luke Bryan. She enjoyed trips to the beach and spending time with her family and friends. Taylor will be remembered for her radiant smile and positive outlook in the midst of her illness.
Survivors include her mother and father, Brian Thomas and Wendy May Foster; sister, Delaney Foster and a brother, Dylan Foster; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Becky May; paternal grandparents, James and Gloria Huff; paternal step grandmother, Donna Foster; maternal great grandparents, Leo and Vannie Busick and Henry Luther and Mildred May; uncle and aunt, Chip and Michelle Young; Aunt, Amanda Figueroa; cousins, T.J. Figueroa, Lauren and Lindsey Young.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Thomas Curtis Foster and her aunt, Angela Dawn Foster.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Brenner's Children's Hospital and Hospice Kids Path of Guilford County and especially her friends and family, Susan, Linda, Jan and Laura.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Pastor Dave Johnson, Pastor Eric Dudley and Rev. C. Allen Myers, III. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Wednesday at Apple's Chapel Christian Church and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to The Got Game Fastpitch! Taylor Dawn Foster Scholarship Fund at any Edward Jones Office or at 195 Beaver Run, Eden, NC 27288.
