I met him off the field, and he was very nice and mild mannered. I'm ready to see the intensity on the field. Can I still come to practice???

If you pick up any of coach Sherrills secrets you'll become hard to live with. Ha Ha . I think he is a great guy & coach. Heck, I can't wait to see his little girls play sometime soon. I'm sure they will have text book tech .See ya soon. Sorry I missed your call. I was out on the left coast looking for talent.

If you measure a man about all of the things that are important....Coach Sherrill measures up pretty well. Great husband, great dad, great friend (let me be clear, I have never met Monte, but know those close to him)....and not too bad as a coach, either.

Although Coach Sherrill has taken a few hits on TBR, I know he appreciates the board, the members that inform others about Softball and the kind words that have been expressed on this thread.

I consider myself fortunate to have Monte Sherrill as a friend. It has been a pleasure to see him up close and personal when the spot light is not on him and getting to know him when he does not have his game attitude going. He not only lets you know he loves the Lord, but he has a great sense of humor that many who only see him during the intensity of ball games would never believe. While it is true that he has been blessed with motivated players who are dedicated to the game and many of whom have unique talents as athletes, Monte has a remarkable gift for pushing them to reach their full potential. He doesn't let players who know they are above average rest on their talents alone. He makes them work hard every day to get better. And the amazing thing is that he is willing to help athletes who are not even in his program and maybe even competitors. My daughter played for a competing high school in the same county as Central, and Monte worked with her after hours one-on-one for nothing except the satisfaction of seeing another athlete excel. My girl will readily attest to the fact that she learned more about softball in those hours with Monte than she had learned in years of being under other coaches. More than that, though, I saw my daughter's self confidence grow dramatically because of Monte's attitude with her. He is a remarkable man with many fine attributes, not just a hard-nosed demanding coach. May God bless him.

great interview coach! You are Blessed! Belief in the Lord, Great family, Great Talent, Great teams. Thank You for sharing your gifts with so many young ladies. They will take what the learn from you an use it for the rest of their lives, on and off the field. Again, great interview, may have given alot of insight to those that do not know you so well. ie. those here on TBR. May God continue to bless you.

Great interview Braves,,, but quite frankly (even though I'm a baseball man) and (admit I know very little about softball),,, but to me the ultimate compliment for Coach Sherrill is when EVERYTIME I hear someone close to me say something about having a daughter who plays softball, and I can't tell you how many times I've heard folks say that "they would like to get their daughter some lessons from Coach Sherrill", or "go to a Coach Sherrill camp".

While some folks may choose to criticize the man,,, there's no doubt he is well-respected around the sports community not only for his wins, but for his passion and attention to teaching the little things that help players become more successful. I thought it was very interesting to read that he has roots playing for the legendary Coach Joe Ferebee, and anyone who ever saw one of Coach Ferebee's teams play,,, that in itself explains much of Coach Sherrill's knowing HOW to win ballgames.

    Great One

Monte is a true softball mind, a great coach, a gentleman off the field,a general on the field and a person that stepped up for me in a time of need even when he really did not know me. Hats off Coach! RET

coach sherrill is an amazing person! people who have never played for him or had a child play for him have no idea the amount of respect that all of his players give him..not only for being a great coach but a great leader and person as well. no matter how much people bash him, it will never change my personal opinion of him or central's program. [[this interview was great by the way!! ]]
