Kenny May described Tyler on another thread: Hard-nosed and hard working. Before the end of this season no one will want to pitch against Tyler Tewell.

He's only discouraged because he senses that others are further along. I'm sure they are many good instructors around Tallahassee. He needs to find one that he feels comfortable around. If you need a recommendation, let us know. I'm sure there are a few people on here with those connections.

Ty's a great little athlete. Baseball is a tough sport to get behind, but his athleticism will get him there quick

    The great thing

about coaching in the summer was not only getting to coach so many great players and young men it was the opportunity to see so many other kids play from around the state. Tyler Tewell was one of those players. From the first time I ever saw him play I thought to myself "this is a kid I would have loved to coach." There are alot of talented players but not near as many who approach the game and play the game with the passion that he does. He is going to be just fine. Embrace the thornes in the game. Because without those thornes there will never be a Rose.

Okay..that 'splain's it. Now I know why Coach May has been gone from the board so long. He's been practicing his poetry. Who'd a thunk!!!!

Appendectomy and pneumonia knocked him out of baseball for 2 weeks; he was actually doing pretty well. His first game back last night, he DH'd and was 1/3 with a RBI in the 5-3 loss to UNCG. Got the day off today, still trying to regain his strength / weight.

Thanks Tom and Kenny, it will mean alot to him when he reads your comments.

Grier Harrington, Northwood '07/Dirtbags, pitched UNC Asheville to a huge win over Nationally ranked, and perennial Big South Conference front-runner, Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Coastal had not lost a Big South game in 36 outings and UNCA had not beaten them since 2007.

He threw 8 innings scattering 10 hits while striking out 5 and allowing just 1 walk. He also picked off two CCU baserunners. He left the game after the 8th with the score tied 2-2.

His relief in the 9th held and the Bulldogs loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning when the CCU pitcher walked in the winning run.

Though he doesn't get the "W" on the stat sheet, he does get the satisfaction of putting his team in the position to get a big win.
