    niner_dad,

What's going on "down east" with baseball? Are you guys having the same problems with the weather? What conference does New Bern play in and can you give us the scoop on the Wilmington area teams?

    SPD,

The weather is wet, hard to get games in.

New Bern is in the Big East, with Rose, Rocky Mt., Northern Nash, D.H. Conley, and Havelock.

I'm not up to speed on the Wilmington teams (didn't make it to the games we've had with them. Both my sons are in college now, but I still make it to some of the home games and talk to coach Smith some) but Smitty tells me Hoggard and Laney will be tough. We lost to Hoggard 2-1, but nipped Laney 3-1. At Hoggard, a bad defensive inning cost us, and vs. Laney, our winning run scored on a Laney error, so not a lot of hitting going on.

    niner ...

that lack of hitting is showing up with all the clubs out our way too. No one has hit their stride ... basically, most teams are terrible at the plate in my opinion. Lots of teams you expected to be power houses are having trouble scoring runs.
