But ... elite teams do give a player a plus! As do some other choices.

If you get the chance go play for an elite team, do it. I believe you will come back saying: my daughter did have a greater chance of being seen, playing on the better fields, better competition, better game times, more recognition, excellent learning opportunity with the better coaches, etc.

My daughter had the opportunity of playing with three so called elite teams. It was a blast and you really do not know what you are missing till you go through the process. Well worth it and if you don't strive to play for the best and with the best not sure you will maximize your potential.

QUESTIONS BROUGHT UP BY ALL THE POSTS

I have been reading this and scratching my head as to the direction it took.
    1) Who determines whether a team is "elite" or not? Is it by committee or ???
    2) What does being deemed "elite" or not have to do with team chemistry and the player make up?
    3) I am a manager in the company I work for. I am charged with hiring and sometimes firing employees. We are always recruiting new and good talent. What is wrong with picking up the best talent if they come looking for change?

    My answers would be:

    1. Opinions. My opinion, your team is an elite team.
    2. Nothing.
    3. Nothing.

    Sorry, cheez.

Wow this one has changed subject matter

Like Rick, I have not said a word since original post which I placed because a great softball mind, one of best ever wrote a great article and I felt all would enjoy.
Elite, Gold, A, TB, Rec, whatever all have a place for girls to play. Some of the best teams in NC did not just get there overnight, they worked hard, paid their dues, spend hours trying to meet and develop relationships with college coaches and tournament directors to assist the young ladies that played for them with the recruiting process. I know most started their teams originally to assist their own daughters and her friends, then stayed on to help others long after their daughters moved on to college and some still after their daughters graduated. None that I know of get paid and do it to help others and because they love the game. As Tator-Tot said you can get recruited playing for anyone and none of the coaches I know take credit for getting kids recruited, we simply try to get the kids to the right tournaments, get the best schedule, and talk and write to coaches to hopefully make the task a little easier for the players!
People have choices and must decide if the product a team offers is worth it, if they decide it is, they play there, if not they play else where, simple!
The better teams either get better players or coaches that get the best out of their players, that is true in all sports at every level.

Lets deal with some truth here.....a long time member posts an article that has a lot of merit and truth in it. he posted this article to share with others here. things like this act make this forum the best in the nation. unfortunately, some people look at it as an avenue of attack toward "elite teams", "gold teams" or even possibly the member who posted this article.

you dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out whats going on, you just need to read and follow the posts and the direction it takes. it always seems to be the same people with the occasional newbie (or someone under an assumed name) who take the intent of the thread (often to ponder thought) and hijack it to continually prove their point. often their point is just a cover for a direct attack and it isnt happening here.

so, again i will ask you all to think a little bit more about what you're getting ready to submit before you hit the button.
