Very young, but talented. Hermann and Tyson (transfer from Anson) are the only players with extensive varsity experience. JV's were 18-0 last year and most of the games were not close. Pitching depth after King and Tyson is the key to a good season.

I wish these guys good luck. I graduated last year along with 6 other starters, and the schedule these guys face is one of the toughest. (Fuquay, Lee Co, Green Hope, Apex, Hoggard, Ashley... each twice.)

Timmy will share the #1 pitching chores with Morgan Tyson. He looked very good during the scrimmage. Three no hit innings against Charlotte Country Day. I think Timmy has the potential to be one of the best '06 out there.

As far as in the field, he will get some time at SS. There is a lot of depth on Piedmont's team and the only positions that are nailed down are Dallas Tarelton at catcher, Justin Perry at 2nd, Danny Hermann at SS or 3rd and Jeff Logan in CF.

    *Ryan Cook, of
    *Tim Cramer, c
    Wes Flowers, RHP/if
    *Jason Kennell, LHP/1B (injured)
    ***JJ Rollins, c/RHP

    David Castevens, if
    Scott Fry, if
    Josh Gresham, if
    Jack Magee, c/of
    Jeremy Mathis, if/RHP
    Matt Satterfield, c/of

    3 Sophomores:
    Josh Barker, of
    Jack Myers, of
    Ryan Rockecharlie, RHP/1B

    Notes of interest:
    (1) Rollins has shown that he can pitch as well as hit and catch; he has shown nasty movement on a mid-80s fastball -- look for JJ to get considerable innings and to challenge for the number 2 starting spot -- at least until Kennell returns.
    (2) Flowers, Berger and Rockecharlie also look like they are ready to pitch some innings; the Mustangs also will need innings from Mathis, Brewer and/or Bowman while Kennell is sidelined.
    (3) Bowman was inured in a car accident and was just released last week to begin throwing again . Kennell is out for four weeks minimum with a knee injury. Brewer won't be out on the field until the Mustangs are eliminated from the basketball playoffs.
    (3) The junior class took some big off-season hits, particularly to what once was a class full of outstanding pitchers; lost were RHP/cf Antonio Cousart, LHP/1B Tim Frye (transfer to Providence), and LHP/of Cody Drake.
    (4) Reports are that sophomore Jack Myers has dazzled in center field.
    (5) The Mustangs had an intrasquad scrimmage last Saturday; tomorrow's only scheduled scimmage, with Hunter Huss, was cancelled because of the weather.
