What is going on in MoTown? They have played 2 games this season and have been outscored 86-0. Have they been hurt by the injury bug or what? I try to make the trip to MoTown a couple times a season and I just want to know what they have?

Good Luck to them the rest of the way!!

Village Idiot is the man to ask. I'd hate to see them be down for a year or two.

Mooresville sucks about as much as Statesville this year.

We just dont have the horses to pull the wagon this year. A good friend of mine who's son is a junior TE this season has been telling me for years now that this particular class does not have the talent that Mooresville has been accustomed to having in the past. You could see it comming, their first year playing JV ball they lost about 5 games, one of those was a home loss to Lake Norman. That class ended the Mooresville JV programs streak of 56 consecutive wins, something that the players always took pride in. The biggest weakness that I see is on the O line. They are not comming close to blocking anybody and Mooresville has lost their starting HB for the season with a broken collar bone suffered on the second series of downs in the first game of the season vs. N. Davidson. The starting QB got roughed up in a scrimmage and has seen limited action since, missing the first game as well. Our starting FB had his back injured in the first quarter at Davie Co. last night and could miss some games as a result. Our back up QB weighs around 110 lbs. and he does his best but you need a stud at QB when you're an option team. We started a freshman at HB last night and he did OK for his first game since playing 8th grade ball. But these kids are literally running for their lives on 3 out of 4 plays during the game. We crossed the Davie 50 yd. line twice last night, I think. We lost 3 fumbles, the first was returned for a TD. We also gave up 3 special teams TD's. The defense really isnt that bad but they are getting worn out because they are on the field for much of the game due to the ineffective play of the offense, it just snow balls them. To add insult to injury, Davie ran a no huddle offense. Their starters remained on the field even after they had put 50 points on the board, and they have some great players. I saw Davie twice last season, once when the beat us 40-7 and once when they lost to Jack Britt in the 4A West Regional Finals at home. Many, including myself had them picked to win it all last year. They were ranked in the top 5 already this year by Massey Ratings but I havent followed up since last week on that one. They had a party with our ineptitude and we just caved in big time.

Sometimes you just get caught in these talent voids. We dont have the luxury of the talent rich areas of the state that some programs enjoy year in and year out, but all programs suffer every now and then. We are no exception. Many Mooresville fans have been spoiled by the success of the Mike Carter era and I dont envy Barclay Marsh who is having to come in behind Mike and face this situation. But Marsh is quite capable of getting the job done in my opinion. He worked under Carter for many years and the Blue Devils still employ the exact same system that Carter had put in place. But you hear the grumbling. I look for maybe one more lean year before things get better. This years JV team can run the triple option as good as any I've seen in the last 6 or 7 years. They can play on both sides of the ball.

It wont get get any easier for Mooresville this week as they travel up to Bandys who just so happens to live in 2AA State Title contention playing Riedsville in the 2AA State Tilte game back to back in 2002 and 2003 and lost to undefeated and eventual 2AA State Tiltle victors last season, Charlotte Catholic in the West Regionals......and obtw, Mooreville played Catholic last year as well. Bandys features All Everything Sr. LB/FB Matt Woodleif who has already signed with Wake Forest. And looking even further ahead, W. Rowan lies a few weeks away. They are also ranked near the top 5 in the 3A classification and have scored nearly 100 points in 2 games thus far this season.

    I want my mommy.......

How will the Mooresville/Alex. Central game come out this week. I think both teams showed improvement last week!
